Overall, it's a tough situation I think. NO other team could have offered him more than 100 million...so why offer 120? Why not wait and see what other offers he gets?

It is tough though because how much worse do they get if Johnson leaves - they go right back to where they were earlier this decade if they don't have Joe Johnson playing.

I guess they might be thinking of moving Horford to PF (his natural position) and Josh Smith over to SF (I think he could play SF, but might be better at PF). No matter what they are thinking, you know that Shaq is going to play limited minutes during the season with the idea of increasing those minutes in the playoffs.

It has also been rumered that Josh Smith might be on the trading block. That would at least make a little sense. Obviously it is always a good idea to get rid of some young talent and bring in a veteran at the end of his career.:eek:

IMO, this wouldn't be too bad as far as star FA disperal possibilities go. At least it takes off the table the three-star Miami combo or the Bulls adding two of them to their existing cast.

And it also says Bosh is cold to the idea. He wants to play with LeBron, but in a bigger city. In the dictionary, Bosh's picture must be next to "prima donna" :rolleyes:
 
Bosh is overrated. Sure the guy can get you 20 and 10 but he doesnt play a lick of defense and this free agency pretty much assured that he knows that hes not good enough to be the number 1 guy.
 
Carlos Boozer is the latest domino to fall, agreeing to a five-year, $80 million contract with the Chicago Bulls, a source close to the negotiations told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher on Wednesday.

Boozer follows agreements by premier free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, Amare Stoudemire with the Knicks and Joe Johnson in Atlanta.

The Bulls are still in the running for LeBron James, who is going to make an announcement Thursday on ESPN. But Chicago would have to do some creative financing to fit the superstar under the cap after this deal.

Boozer average 19.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for the Utah Jazz last season, his sixth with the team. In his eight-year career, he has averaged 17.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.

Boozer's name has come up in trade discussions involving the Bulls numerous times over the past few years.

Nah, we've got some growth and development to see to at the 4 and 5 spots. I don't think anyone should have taken Beasley, and that the heat should have had to swallow that bitter pill :)

- In their quest to keep the core intact, the Boston Celtics appeared on the verge of losing a key bench player Sunday. According to multiple reports, guard Tony Allen will sign with the Memphis Grizzlies. The Memphis Commercial Appeal first reported the deal. Just days after rumors swirled that Allen would re-sign in Boston, Yahoo.com reported he will ink a three-year, $10 million guaranteed deal.

- The Phoenix Suns will make an offer to restricted free agent Josh Childress, a league source said, providing the former Hawks swingman an avenue back to the NBA after spending the last two seasons in Greece.

- Ben Wallace left the Detroit Pistons once. He doesn't plan to do it again.
The former Defensive Player of the Year told The Associated Press on Sunday he heard from a lot of teams, but agreed to a two-year deal to stay with the Pistons about a week ago. This would be very interesting. I'd like to see how they would work that out with Haywood needing to be in there for a post presence, but if this went down and it worked that could right there put them on even footing with the Lakers.
 
Jeffy to the Jazz looks good on paper. But then people tend to forget that Jefferson's defense is almost nonexistant.
 
Boozer is a much more efficient scorer and fit in Utah's offensive system than Jefferson, but it's probably worth a shot considering Utah really has no other recourse.
 
Jefferson to the Jazz saves them from having to start Milsap and have nothing coming off the bench. They have lost all their pieces it even has Deron Williams frustrated talking to the media, I'm glad they pulled this move off if it's confirmed it might just save their season.
 
So Barnes was supposedly going to Toronto in a sign and trade, and he even tweeted that it was official. Unfortunately, after agreeing to the deal, both teams realized that neither of them could afford to sign him. That's embarrassing.

Since they seem destined to meet LA and/or HOU every year in the playoffs, it couldn't hurt to replace Boozer w/ a guy who's a bit more of a traditional banger.
