The 49ers had their dark years, too, but football at least can give you false hope at the beginning of every season. I don't know what to do with these Kings. It just seems like they have no direction. I'm at the point where I'll never root for another team, but I may just take a considerable amount of time away from being a rabid fan. It's very frustrating!
They are absolutely stubbornly stupid aren't they? It is amazing. Its not even ego anymore to say I could easily have done better than the front offices of the last decade. So could you. So could a lot of people. The sickness stretches to philosophical stupidity, so of course all the individually stupid moves that follow make a certain sort of clueless sense.

This summer is/was going to tell me everything I needed to know about Gerbil. He started off his unexpected promotion with a bang of ignorance, but who knows how much was him and how much was the dumbass advice coming from around him, including even the fans/remnants of people who should have known the team. Then he got rampantly aggressive for every bit of low hanging fruit on the market and I considered the Gay trade a clear win. But was there a plan? Our remaining assets sucked. What was the vision? All I've got so far is a loser's fascination with middling SGs. Which is straight get that weak crap out of here stuff for me. He has a lot to prove before I rescind my interdiction.

D'Alessandro chose not to tear the roster apart & rebuild in favor of trying to retool and win now. The 8th pick was the team's biggest trade asset. So where does the improvement come from now?
That's a very important question. Our most valuable asset was the pick, and combined with Ben or others, was our most valuable package.

Vivek said Malone had been watching Stauskas all year, really liked him. All the talk about playing him and Ben together....it's just talk, trying to keep whatever value Ben has in a deal. I think we just lowered Ben's value with this pick. At least that is the appearance of the pick. 3 hours later and still can't believe we passed on Vonleh ( a need and best player available) and passed on Payton.

Lmao what do you guys put in the water up in sactown?

Listening to the press conference drives me nuts. It's literally the same nonsense as last year except with some ridiculous statements thrown in.

Some high/lowlights:
1. We really tried to get extra picks in the 1st and 2nd. 2 straight drafts where we claim that but couldn't. Why do so many other teams manage to do it.
2. Considered trading UP to get Nik? WTF?
3. Playing Ben and Nik together and having Ben guard 1's
4. Weren't willing to trade 8 even for other pieces since they wanted Nik.
5. Be strong with IT in FA to fill the PG role.
That's extremely worrying. Extremely.

All of this

What makes you certain that Vonleh is a better player than Stauskas? I don't think that's the case at all

How many times did my post come up? It wasn't posting on my end and I only see one... ???

Please remove the duplicates? I cannot see them even after refreshing

He wasn't convinced and therefore reiterated his point one more time, again. LOL

firefox snafu over here. Wasn't posting my replies on my end so I couldn't see them. I just thought they never posted lol. Even after restarting and refreshing I still cant, so if someone could remove the others that I cannot see please do so! :)

EDIT: saw them after the last post was up. Deleted one of them but looks like someone took care of the other two. Thanks!

Vivek Ranadivé mentioned that Michael Malone is very high on Nik Stauskas. Said Malone encouraged him to watch Stauskas closely at Michigan.

My question is, who actually is making these decisions? Is it PDA? Is it Malone? Is it Vivek? Is it Mullin? Is it five fans who were invited? Who's voices outweigh others? Any GM worth his salt isn't relying on his 2nd year coach and owner to make decisions. Any GM worth his salt has his plan, is confident in his plan and sticks to it, whether it fails or not.

I think there really is something to the idea PDA doesn't have the cojenes when it comes down to it, to pull off trades or make picks on his own accord and going by his own plan. Gets cold feet, then falls back on what he knows, GS and Den, and that's what many in our FO know.

not just firefox, i.e. as well. Think the server crashed for a couple of minutes there an hour ago too, so may be having some server side issues with traffic or some such.

Well, given our options the concern would be less that we took Nik Stauskas then that we did not get in position to do anything better.

I'm on record as saying I like Stauskas. He's a very good fit with Gay & Cousins as a guy that spreads the floor.

But that was almost the same rationale for McLemore last year especially when we thought Tyreke would be retained. Ben was a sweet shooting 3&D wing with the athleticism/potential to be more. Now he lacks the 3 and the D and we have the King's brass saying they haven't lost faith in him despite drafting someone who plays his position just a year later.

So now the Kings have a high ceiling/low floor SG who may not develop and a high floor/low ceiling (presumably) SG and even if they both pan out the Kings still haven't addressed their defensive woes, still haven't found the pass first PG to either replace IT or push him to the bench and they still haven't found the PF or C to start next to DMC and anchor the D & block shots.

I like Stauskas but he's at best a really nice role player and when the rumors have the Kings in the mix for Love, Rondo, Josh Smith etc and reports are that there are 3 deals "on the table" for draft day, not to mention all the "draft 3.0" business, crowd sourcing draft help and PDA talking about being aggressive and swinging for the fences, staying put and drafting a nice role player is a bug disappointment. Especially when he plays the same position as last year's lottery pick.

D'Alessandro chose not to tear the roster apart & rebuild in favor of trying to retool and win now. The 8th pick was the team's biggest trade asset. So where does the improvement come from now?

IT will either be resigned, signed-and-traded or let go without compensation so unless PDA has tricks up his sleeve the best case scenario has the Kings returning the same roster that won 28 games plus Stauskas. No cap room, no draft picks and no young players that could possibly become stars.

It's frustrating. And PDA may want to heed Wooden's words:

"Never mistake activity for achievement."

i had serious doubts about his abilities about team building last year. he seems to be strictly a stats guy and not talent evaluator. he sure knows how to make it look like hes doing a lot though. i am disappointed that he didn't take the freak vonleh. 7'4 wing span, huge hands, shooting, dribbling, low post play. hard to find size w/ skills. easier to find shooters.

Well judging by some of the moves we have made, including drafting what we think is another Klay Thompson, and giving Landry that awful contract, i'd say Malone has a huge imput on the decision making.

although you would think we might have some better defenders if that was the case
