During the offseason, I've...

speaking of the Rondo trade thing, i would much rather just draft E. Payton. That way we don't lose Ben, we don't have a bunch of money wrapped up in Rondo, and we don't even know if Rondo would stick around in Sac

Wouldn't be too mad if Smart was the pick. Looks like a winner and full effort guy. Does anyone know about his Basketball IQ?
It doesn't matter what his BBIQ is. The moment he messes up on a fast break, there will be accusations of low BBIQ.

Apparently if the Jazz can't move up, they're likely to take Gordon at 5. It'd be a shock to me but I'd be happy if it happened. Can't see it, though.

Except they're considering Smart. Except they're considering Payton.

At this point in the game, the signal-to-noise ratio is so low that unless a news bit says "this has already happened" I'm not really buying anything.

Oh absolutely, hence my use of the word "apparently." Can't believe anything at the moment. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm sure we're in for some shocks tonight anyway.

ooo I wonder whats being said, probably nothing, just silence.

CrownDowntown was in that room two days ago. We also saw Pete, Mullin, and others in their war room at the XC. ;)

The more I watch Payton, he really passes the eye test for me.
I don't feel the same. But his International coaches liked him, so that's promising. Seems like a better college level player in my eyes.

If the Kings draft him, I hope he changes my mind!

This is the flip side to PDA being so aggressive and the new front office apparently not being so secretive. All sorts of reports leak out building hopes up and it's very possible that none of it comes to pass.

I suppose we'll never know how active Petrie was because either he really was sitting on his hands most years or he just ran a tighter ship.

Either way, rumors are fun and interesting but the real issue is whether this front office builds a better team. While I've been critical of D'Alessandro I absolutely hope he's a huge success as a GM because this franchise and this fan base deserve it.

Paraphrasing Petrie, concerning players and the dislike of rumors, 'He's a King until he's not a King.' There has been so much hype that something is going to happen, if the Kings do nothing but pick eighth there will be major disappointment. That would not be good.

Spoiler Alert:

Kings will draft McDermott and trade him for Payton and a 2nd round pick.

Sorry to take all the suspense out of this day.

Actually, with reports that we're looking for a 2nd rd pick, I can see this happening.

The reactions around here when McDermott's name is called and puts on his Kings hat...

When they make the pick, I ain't buying it until I hear the Kings are keeping him. It could be a night in which a draftee puts on the Kings cap, only to 15 minutes later find out he's been traded.

Always awkward. They declare their delight and "fit" in the interview only to end up somewhere else.

Sure, why not? Nothing will really surprise me at this point. Where do you see Payton being picked? 10-12?

My best guess is 10. But I can't see the Kings keeping the pick when they've been saying for some time they want multiple picks. This would be the easiest route considering teams are trying to move up to take McDermott.

Just saw a report that Kings are looking to trade the 8th pick to teams who want Doug McDermott. That is fantastic news, because that means we don't want him

Would be fun because McDermott will at least have a pic in a Kings hat for posterity.

"Yeah, I'm really excited to be a Mav, I think they are building something great there"
"Oh, it's an honor to be compared to Charles Barkley but I just want to focus on being the first Robert Traylor"
"Wait, what? Traded to where? Milwaukee? For who? The German kid?"

Tim Legler just listed Embiid as the 6th most NBA ready draftee, after qualifying it by "guys that could step into a lineup tomorrow". Ah, NBA "experts".

Wow, in looking for a draft day pic of Dirk in a Bucks hat or Tractor Traylor in a Mavs hat I discovered that Traylor died of a heart attack in 2011 at only 34.

I guess I missed that news when it came out. He might have been an NBA bust but he always seemed like such a decent and gregarious dude. Such a shame to go that young.

"Aaron Gordon is almost assuredly to be drafted before forwards Noah Vonleh and Julius Randle, front office sources tell Yahoo. Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA)

Very interesting.
