Apologies again for taking so long.

Ok, so my own time to start the soundtrack game:

Dazed & Confused (1993) [Soundtrack]

One of the nifty things about this draft is the ability to break away from only getting 20 artists to listen to forever. This soundtrack was a potpourri of all kinds of fun classic 70s rock and better than just about any "Best of 70s" collection of which I am aware.

1. Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo - Rick Derringer
2. Slow Ride - Foghat
3. School's Out - Alice Cooper
4. Jim Dandy - Black Oak Arkansas
5. Tush - ZZ Top
6. Love Hurts - Nazareth
7. Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
8. Cherry Bomb - The Runaways
9. Fox On The Run - Sweet
10. Low Rider - War
11. Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
12. Highway Star - Deep Purple
13. Rock And Roll All Night - Kiss
14. Paranoid - Black Sabbath

Nice. That looks a lot like a list for Guitar Hero

The Ramones - Weird Tales of the Ramones (2005)
g96996xt49y.jpg

3 CDs and a DVD make up this collection which contain all of the hits, but the main feature here that distinguishes it from other Ramones collections is the 54 page comic book celebrating the superhero myth of the Ramones, which I'd much rather have on my island than the Ramones as shown through The End of the Century documentary.

Various - The Heavy Metal Box (Rhino 2007)
j05988a2u80.jpg

This 4 disc box set comes in a neat little box packaging set to resemble the head of a Marshall stack.

It covers everything nicely from the early dawn of metal with Blue Cheer's cover of "Summertime Blues" to Pantera and Sepultura with comprehensive sections on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the hair metal scene of the 80s.

One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001 - Bon Jovi

http://www.amazon.com/One-Wild-Night-Live-1985-2001/dp/B00005J73X

While it's not really "one" wild night, this represents some of the very best Bon Jovi performances over three decades. It's a "live" album of greatest hits and it's something I listen to a lot.

2. Livin' On A Prayer 5:13
3. You Give Love A Bad Name 3:53
4. Keep The Faith 6:19

Ray! - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - 2004

SERIOUSLY good album. I could probably find more expansive Ray Charles collections out there, but this one suits my needs just fine.

2. I Got A Woman
3. Hallelujah I Love Her So (Live)
4. Drown In My Own Tears
5. Night Time Is The Right Time (Studio)
6. Marianne (Studio)
7. Hard Times (Studio)
8. What'd I Say(Live)
9. Georgia On My Mind (Studio)
10. Hit The Road Jack (Studio)
11. Unchain My Heart (Studio)
12. I Can't Stop Loving You
13. Born To Lose (Studio)
14. Bye Bye Love (Studio)
15. You Don't Know Me (Live)
16. Let The Good Times Roll (Live)
17. Georgia On My Mind (Live)

I had another soundtrack here, but went for a last minute shuffle to keep this list from looking too repetitive.

Astrud Gilberto - Compact Jazz: Astrud Gilberto (1990) -- Not sure how many votes I'll earn with 1960s bossa nova, but at least I'm going for the top of that particular genre. Songs written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and featuring Astrud, husband Joao Gilberto, and saxophonist Stan Getz -- all huge names, even if the hip hop crowd doesn't get 'em. ;) And, really, is there a better song for being stuck on an island than this one?

And a bonus. In karaoke form!!

Trainspotting #2: Music from the Motion Picture, Vol. #2 (1997)

Really need both of these discs as they spread some of the key songs across the volumes. The filler is great too.

Amazing Grace: The Complete Original Recordings - Aretha Franklin (1999)

310YT8G2WJL._AA240_.jpg

This was re-released nearly a decade ago from a set of Franklin's live performances in a Baptist church in Los Angeles...wonderful from a musical perspective and from an full environmental listening experience.

Track list

Title track(11 minutes of amazin')

I thought I saw in another thread that Kingzrool is AFK and someone is picking on his behalf so I will still pm him...but I'm not sure who is the designated selector...

I'm now at the point where I have WAAAAAAAY more list than I do remaining picks (my current back-up list is at 35 without really stretching my brain), which always makes the selection process more difficult than it should be. This next pick is an album I knew I would take since the moment I thought up this draft, however.

51hfvdlmbplss500mo5.jpg

Etta James -- 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection (1999)
-- I've loved Etta James' voice for as long as I can remember, and this is a great little (itty bitty, miniscule) collection of some of her biggest hits. As the Allmusic.com write-up mentions, real fans would likely prefer a more extensive collection, but since I'm picking only from albums I actually own this will have to do. Only eleven tracks, but not a single dud. It, predictably, starts off with "At Last" (easily her most well known song), but the highlight for me is "Don't Cry Baby." It's probably one of my favorite songs ever.

Etta James is brilliant...no doubt about it. I think you'll like this pick, too...or I might just end up back on your hit list. You realize this was just a matter of time, right?

Wild, Cool, and Swingin': The Artist Collection - Louis Prima - 1999

51QD4Q7FFQL._SS400_.jpg

Actually, there are so many Louis Prima collections out there that if GGG decides to pick one up, she'll have plenty to pick from. This just happens to be the one I have...44 tracks strong. Has huge hits like Jump, Jive, An' Wail, Just a Gigolo, Buona Sera, of course...but some of my favorites, too: Angelina, The Lip, There'll Be No Next Time, etc. This collection is just FUN...and my Sicilian in-laws are proud that our toddler is growing up loving Louis, too.

Wild, Cool, and Swingin': The Artist Collection - Louis Prima - 1999

Were I taking a Prima collection, this would definitely be the one. I'm not only because my list was getting crowded enough that I forbade myself from picking artists I took in the initial album draft.

While this pick hasn't put you on my hit list, however, the fact that you've opened the "Artist Collection" can of worms will definitely inspire some shuffling. The last few picks on my list are dependent on any/everything involving the words "ultra" and "lounge" remaining my own little secret. ;)

Note: My 12th pick was One Wild Night: 1985-2001 = Bon Jovi.
