The show-boating I was reffering toJohnny Blaze said:He did a little shake n bake and got the defender out of position then stepped back and took the shot. He left the arm in the air without any doubt that it was going in. It was beautiful.

Most definitely!Alacron said:According to Eric Neel, ESPN.com 10/28/03, Twenty Reasons the NBA is Fan-tastic:

It's his trademark.

apparently not..VF21 said:So now Webber isn't even allowed to show expression over a good shot?

Holding his arm up after a shot? That's not showboating. Almost every shooter in the league does that; it's follow-through.allrightythen said:The show-boating I was reffering to

Oh he can, it just doesn't make me like him or respect him anymore, nor, IMO, does it bring others to do the same. Thats pretty much part of the game at this point, its just not something to get up or down about.VF21 said:allrightythen - So now Webber isn't even allowed to show expression over a good shot?

Please. I even hold my hand up like that when I'm just practicing jumpers at home. It's natural to do that, you're trying to will the ball into the hoop. Golfers keep their drivers up after the swing, bowlers hold that ice skating position.allrightythen said:Oh he can, it just doesn't make me like him or respect him anymore, nor, IMO, does it bring others to do the same. Other players doing it doesn't mean its not show-boating, it simply means its accepted. I'll admit that when I call it show-boating I'm nit-picking, but I still don't think its something to applaud the guy for.Mr. S£im Citrus said:Holding his arm up after a shot? That's not showboating. Look, I said it doesn't make me like him any more. That is definitely not the beef I have with the guy and I would have to be quite anal if that was a real reason I didn't like the guy. again, I just read it as a reason he was being defended and thought it was silly.Alacron said:Please. There are plenty of genuine reasons to not be a Webb fan, dissing him for following through on a game-clinching shot is... OK, I don't want to get edited... it don't make no sense.![]()

ouch.. apparently, if you're webb, you can't follow through on your shots cause it's showboating when you do it, and not when bibby, peja, doug, etc. does it..Alacron said:Please. What are you talking about? Would you be making the comment if it was Tim Duncan? Or Mark Madsen? Or any player NOT named Chris Webber?allrightythen said:it just doesn't make me like him or respect him anymore, nor, IMO, does it bring others to do the same..
We don't care about why you don't like Chris Webber. That's completely up to you. What we do care about is when Webber pretty much saves a game for us and someone - in this case, you - tries to make it sound as if it's a bad thing.allrightythen said:Look, I said it doesn't make me like him any more. allrightythen said:Webber did have a great game, and as someone who doesn't like Webber its very easy to admit that. That doesn't make me like him any more. Its called biased hatred.VF21 said:What are you talking about? Would you be making the comment if it was Tim Duncan? Or Mark Madsen? Or any player NOT named Chris Webber?
There are things, of course, that people can find to criticize about Chris Webber but saying he shouldn't be able to follow through on a shot is about the furthest stretch I've ever seen...
Yes, Webber saved the game and had every right to have his hand in the air, but why do I have to like him for having his hand in the air. Thats what I read in the original post and that is what I was questioning. Everybody does it, whether I want them to or not, I already said that its nit-picking to call it show-boating, but If you are going to address the group called "webber haterz" and the continue to give reasons to give him credit, raising his hand in the air because he made a shot is not a reason to give him credit. So I won't. He had a great game and was our MVP by far, and has played pretty darn good so far in the rest of the games as well, but I am not going to get excited about him raising his hand in the air as was stated in that earlier post.VF21 said:We don't care about why you don't like Chris Webber. Dude, he just had his arm in the air.
It doesn't matter who does it, I don't think its any reason to like a personVF21 said:What are you talking about? Would you be making the comment if it was Tim Duncan? Or Mark Madsen? Or any player NOT named Chris Webber?

(The term "webber haterz" isn't acceptable around here and has, in fact, been deleted. I started this thread to say thanks to a Kings player for a job well done. If you want to focus on one nano-second of action, feel free to do so.
Actually, you're quite wrong, you're encourage to hang your hand like that when you shoot. My basketball coach used to tell me to do the same thing. It's follow through as Slim has said earlier. It has nothing to do with showboating.allrightythen said:Other players doing it doesn't mean its not show-boating, it simply means its accepted. Oh come on now -- while you are of course correct that its proper form, when you leave it hanging for a couple of seconds of course its showboating. Not as if anybody does that on every shot. Think Larry Bird pioneered that one, and he DEFINITELY wanted you to know it was going in and there was nothing you could do about it.Pacboy said:Actually, you're quite wrong, you're encourage to hang your hand like that when you shoot.
