Ok, with a starting five and a coach there are so many different ways to go here, and as I said there are two specific guys I was choosing from. But I think the allure of the fan favorite is just too enticing. This guy brings energy and enthusiasm, and actually some very good play including lights out three point shooting. As a sixth man I could do a lot worse.

Whether we wanted him here or not, whether he deserved his ugly contract or not, KT was actually quite productive his first couple years in Sac. Undersized as they come, but Kenny could score and he was a decent rebounder for his size. Almost a double-double to go along with 3 assists, a steal and almost 50% shooting at this point in the draft is a bargain.

ok, done with checking boxes and there is a rapidly depleting supply of this style player in kings history so I'll pass on some more prominent stuff to take my secret backup center who modern fans don't remember:

I always think teams should have 2 shotblockers if they really want to establish that tone inside. My team now has 2 1/2. And while there were several more prominent plays to make here, Jawann was legitimately good for the Kings that year. Not only the ridiculous block numbers (in only 17.5min 3rd most per game of any Sacto. King in 30 years), which by the way were pretty much par for the course for his career, but statistically at least he was rock solid: 11.3pts 11.6reb 4.0blk per 36 min, tied for the team lead in Def Rating etc. Supposedly the sin that kept Oldham bouncing from team to team over his NBA career is that he thought he was better than he was, and will likely think he's better than Cousins. But for his one year with us, maybe the ego wasn't as wildly misplaced as it was elsewhere. I figure between he, Keon, Cuz and Ron I can now just call the rim closed and worry about other things with my remaining picks.

Yeah, that was my dilemma. Old timer few have heard of with a skill that is in short supply, or fan favorite. I ended up figuring that having a knucklehead like OP made the fan favorite more important, lest I lose the support of the Kings faithful.

I think the quality of Les' '90-'91 season sometimes gets a bit overlooked. Not only did he lead the league in 3PT% at .461 (taking nearly three per game) but he also had some of the highest per-minute assist totals in Sacramento Kings history. Since moving to Sac, there have been only two seasons in which a player (both Reggie Theus) has had at least 1000 minutes and recorded more assists per minute than Les in '90-'91. It will be a nice change of pace for me to be able to bring Les off the bench and give me some of those pure point skills that Tyreke kind of lacks. On top of that, he's got a pretty good head for the game - enough that he's currently the head coach at UC Davis. I won't feel at all bad when I sit Evans and let Les spell him for a bit because my team will be in good hands.

The All-Time Kings Draft is probably the only draft conceivable by human mind that can make one upset about missing on Jim Les.

Not a fan of his size, but he's the last PG on the board to have enough games/minutes to be considered a credible starter. Not a bad player though, will bring ball movement, range and clutch scoring (NCAA knowledge courtesy of Capt. Factorial)
As a bonus, there are only three starting point guards that went to the playoffs with a Kings jersey and he's one of them.

Check your stat line - no points included and rebounds listed twice. Of course, you may just be trying to emphasize that point.

ok, some new rules/notes:

Trades
After all the trade suggestions, these would seem to work for most people I hope:

1) trading is allowed
2) from this post forward trades will be allowed to occur
3) I see no reason why trades could not include draft picks
4) HOWEVER, trades must all involve equal numbers of players or draft picks going either way. I thought about this, and I just don't see how it could be fair for one team to swap 2 player for 4 players, have to dump the 2 extra players back into the pool, and then have those players suddenly be available for whoever is picking next, or just happens on by. The only other option to avoid this would be players that have to waived as extra bodies in that situation would just blink out of existence, but that seemed far too much for what is at its heart an all time Kings draft.
5) there was also uneasiness with letting franchise players be traded, in fact my initial uneasiness was when I got an offer to get a 2nd one myself. Seemed too likely to make the voting at the end a foregone conclusion. So how about this: franchise players may be included...but only as part of a trade that brings back a franchise player too. In other words if your team just isn't built well to have Mitch as your franchise guy, you can trade Mitch and stuff to somebody for Webb and stuff. But you can't just trade a bunch of stuff for Webb, even if somebody would do that. So limit of one franchise guy to everybody, just with an outside shot to change which guy that is.

Free Agents
A rule that we already have, but just drawing attention to it: after the draft is over anybody is free to drop any player they drafted in favor of any player who went undrafted (or somebody else dropped) on a first come first serve basis. So if Capt. comes along at 8:09pm and wants to drop his Dwayne Schintzius pick for Randy Breuer, and Dime comes along at 8:17pm and wants to drop Ben Gillery to get Breuer, then Capt gets him just by being quicker on the draw. Doubt there is much use for that since we will have just got drafting the peeps we want, but the rule is just there in case you suddenly realize you forgot to draft a backup center or some such.

Since I didn't want to surprise anybody, after a little thought I think this is how we'll handle the voting. looks like we will e done by the end of August, so we'll have plenty of time before the season/training camp starts. So when we finish up, I'll ask everybody to provide me 4 things:

1) list of their top 3 choices for best offensive team
2) list of their top 3 choices for best defensive team
3) list of their top 3 choices for most entertaining team to watch
4) a list of what they think the record of each of the other 11 other teams would be in the NBA if they were the Kings team we were fielding this year. So Team 1 44-38, team B 32-50, Team C 73-9 etc. etc.

then we'll have separate polls for best offensive, best defensive and most entertaining, and the normal brackets. And yes this is in part to give more people/teams a chance to win something/do well.

If we had drafted Joe Kleine in the second round he would have been seen as a bargain. The problem is he was drafted at #6. The next 3 picks (in 1985) were Chris Mullin, Detlef Schrempf and Charles Oakley, and Karl Malone went at #13. On this team I need him as the third big to do the things he could do well: rebound, set screens, play a little defense and take up space.

Donte never really put it together, but this was the season that made us think he was going to. He made one three a game at a solid .377 clip, and definitely had those "wow" moments. Inconsistent, of course, but what do you think you're going to get this deep in the draft? I'm happy to just have some very legit size, length, and athleticism off the bench at the 3 and maybe a bit of the 4 depending on how the other team plays it.
