You may have checked out the end of the season because things weren't really going so well for the Kings. Just a reminder, at the end of the season the Jazz finish 19-10 after the trade of Enes Kanter and were one of the best defensive teams in the league. This without our starting 2 guard and most dynamic wing scorer in Ale Burks and starting a rooking point guard with a 2nd year player as his backup.
I am pretty confident and stats to back it up that the Jazz will be better than the Kings this year. Lets hope that we are both fighting for Home court in the playoffs at the end of the season.
We're pretty confident that we just might do okay with our Hall of Fame coach, All-Star Center (healthy), etc. I'm gonna wait until they actually play the games, but I have every reason to be just as confident of my team as you are about yours.

I guarantee you the Kings will win more games than the Jazz next season.

Actually, I didn't say that "I don't think it will translate to additional wins". I said I "don't know if the changes will really help in the win column but they seem to be better decisions from the outside looking in".
Really, no one knows. It can't be known. The team has changed so much from last year that it would be really hard to know. The Jazz haven't done anything in free agency but they had the youngest starting 5 in the league and won 65% of their games after they made a key trade. They are a known commodity much more so than the Kings.
Do I think the Kings will be better? Probably.
I think Vlade is a doing a better job than the other guy. I said as much. I wasn't and am not trying to be sneak or snarky.

The changes will certainly help in the win column because the IQ and talent of our team, especially the bench, just increased significantly. However, you are not a King's fan so I can't expect you to see that clearly or as clearly as most of us. And let's just say Vlade would have to work really hard to be worse than the other guy. I believe you mentioned somewhere after the trade, you guys went 19-10. That is 29 games, so I wouldn't say you are a much more known commodity than the our current roster. Remains to be seen how that translates over, but I have liked the Jazz for years (mostly because of Jerry Sloan and Williams when he used to be something) so I wish you guys well.

30 games at the end of last year (they were actually pretty good for a few games before the trade too) is a pretty good sample size. The other thing that has me (and most Jazz fans) optimistic is that over that stretch they were one of the highest rated defensive teams. That shouldn't go away. Defense matters. It looks like Vlade has the same belief too.

Well I certainly hope the defense sticks, because being a doormat for the rest of the league sucks. It would certainly be a nice change to at least be competitive/adequate on defense, which alone would be a massive improvement for our team. We are making the right moves and I fully expect improvement, but at the same time chemistry takes time to develop, so I shall have my expectations in check.

I really liked what I saw of the Jazz after the Kantar trade and for a long time we had a running argument in regards to him (I thought he was trash from day 1 when Jazz fans wanted him over Jefferson). I expect improvement from the entire starting 5 and with the return of a healthy Burks to either be a starting SG or spark plug off the bench. If the Jazz had a average starting PG I would give them a very good shot of going over 43+ wins but Exum/Trey really worry me.I think the Jazz should look at trading for Lawson in all honesty than they can really make some noise than.
I feel both the Kings/Jazz are at this point still 1 solid role playing piece away from being legit threats in the West playoffs race(I could be proven wrong easily on both accounts).
I think predicting 50 wins is a bit much at this point.

To be fair to the Jazz what they did post Kantar was as impressive and more so since it was over a longer period of time than what we did with Malone in the 9-6 start. If the Jazz can find a legit starting PG somehow watch out for them.
We are still pretty excited about Dante Exum. He turns 20 in a month or 2 and hadn't really played on a highl level until playing for the Jazz. His numbers weren't great but he is a very good defender at the point guard position and is still young enough to have hope of developing offensively. Tre Burke should be the 3rd point gaurd. We will see what happens as the year goes along but he isn't very good.

I think the Jazz will be a very good team. Only weakness is the starting PG spot. Gobert+Favors is a heck of a froncourt especially on the defensive end. Hayward is one of the best two way wing players in the league. And Hood, Burks, Burke, Booker Millsap, Ingles and Exum are solid complimentary pieces. If Lyles is ready to go they should be aiming at the 6th to 8th seed.

Now that we got that out of the way, you are wrong to say that after the trade you "were one of the best defensive teams in the league"- cause you weren't, you were THE BEST defensive team in the league- trading the center with the worst defense in the league for one of the best defensive centers can do that to a team...
I actually like the Jazz team very much, I think that the Favors/Gobert is the best defensive front court in the league- Gobert is one of the best rim protectors in the league (top 3 for sure) and Favors is quick enough to chase faster PF and at the same time a good help defender. and I think the underrated part of your team is that almost all of your lead rotation players are two-way players- which is a HUGE advantage, when you have a guy like Belinelli who is a lights out shooter but you need to couple him with a good wing defender that can't really shot your efficiency takes a dive...

While on offense it seems like it will take some time for him to cash the potential he certainly has- on defense he has been very good- good enough to buy himself minutes to slowly get more comfortable on offense... overall I think you are a more balanced team than we do and have no drama, so there is a good chance you will win more games.
Having said that...your best player is Gordon Hayward
