Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

Q

250px-Q_portrait.jpg

The character Q is a mischievous, seemingly omnipotent being who has taken an interest in humans. Q's power is limited only in that he can not overcome others in the Q Continuum, the peer group to which he belongs. Otherwise, he can do more or less whatever he wants, which most commonly leads to him annoying others (with or without intent).
Q also has a flair for drama, with a mercurial personality that switches between a joking, camp style and a more ominous and even dangerous manner. While he is boastful, condescending, and threatening, he arguably has humans' best interests at heart, as seen in the series finale, "All Good Things...", in which he causes Jean-Luc Picard to shift through chronological periods, giving him a chance to save humanity. In his portrayal of Q, John de Lancie used Lady Caroline Lamb's famous description of Lord Byron as "Mad, bad and dangerous to know." as his inspiration

Q was already selected by Bricklayer in the Villains draft. He is therefore ineligible for the heroes draft. Please re-pick.

Now to bring my team together with a guiding force; a mentor who literally carries victory in her hand.

Athena, Goddess of Wisdom

Of course, Athena is more than simply the goddess of wisdom, but also, and perhaps most importantly for the purposes of this exercise, the patron of heroes and heroic endeavors.

If there is one being to unite a group of overpowered individuals into a cohesive unit for the greater good, it's Athena.

Additionally, Athena's powers of wisdom include strategy, tactics and overall wisdom and warfare making her the ideal field general for my crew. Plus, regardless of how complex and devilishly brillant the villain squad's evil masterplan proves to be, Athena can undoubtely see through it. You're not pulling a fast one on the goddess of wisdom.

And when push comes to shove, Athena can throw down with the best of them.

Only 4 more picks left. Once the drafting is over, feel free to post you're write-ups (if you want). Playoffs will begin 1 week from the final pick, so that should give everyone enough time to submit one (if they want;)).

I will also need rankings too (via PM) so get to thinking about those please. We only have 4 picks left in this draft. Thanx everyone, it's been really fun so far, and I love the diversity of picks too:).

The Management

Team Awesome's Final Pick:

I needed someone to balance out the might of Thor, the wisdom of Yoda, and someone to challenge Storm's hotness. Also, I needed someone who would be able to stand toe-to-toe with Orgazmo. For my last pick I select:

Stripperella

Stripperella's powers include enhanced reflexes and senses, an above average intelligence (realizing obvious things that everyone else in the show is inevitably oblivious to), superhuman strength, jumping really high, sexy martial arts and of course, killer stripper moves. She has twice claimed to be impervious to all temperatures and weather conditions, but this has only been casually tested on screen. She generally has access to a number of Bond-esque, super-technological devices of questionable usefulness. She is also able to use her extravagant blonde hair as an effective parachute.

What's that bad guy? Can't concentrate on evil? Vsssht! You've just been zapped by lightning/light-sabered while staring at Stripperella. Victory!

Thank you for a wonderful draft everyone. Great picks by all. I need one more member to complete my team, and as someone suggested that I didn't have enough omnipotent factor, I'm grabbing the most powerful marvel mutant ever! He is the son of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) and Susan Storm (Invisible Woman) so he has the good genes, genius factor, and superhero pedigree already. Add to that an awesome ability to manifest reality, and I've found the perfect protector of my island realm. He is currently still a child, so he would be an ideal pupil for Aslan to teach him values, Sage to teach him to control, expand, and focus his abilities, and for another playmate for my son. While those two are off galavanting with Aslan, they can remake entire alternate universes, change our own world, dispel the spells and abilities of their enemies, teleport through space and time, and then have lunch:). Furthermore, this character eventually marries Rachel Summers in the comic books, so there's a local love connection there as well. With the final pick in the superhero draft, I select:

Franklin Richards (Fantastic Four)
440px-CounterEarth%28Franklin%29.jpg

Powers and Abilities:

Franklin is an Omega-level mutant possessing vast psionic powers. According to Roma, Franklin's power is equal to that of the Celestials. These powers have manifested as telepathy, telekinesis, energy blasts of concussive force (in adulthood), precognition, astral projection, and reality manipulation -- the ability to make a thought or desire a reality.

In terms of unrealized potential, Franklin is considered to be the most powerful mutant in the Marvel Universe, surpassing even Charles Xavier and Magneto.

Reality Manipulation: Ability to manipulate reality itself. Practically omnipotent reality warping powers on a potentially infinite level. His abilities are so great that even at such a young age he can create “pocket” universes in alternate realities(A pocket universe is a cosmos that does not equal our own in size.). Just recently his powers returned, and the first thing Franklin did with his nigh unlimited powers was easily create a Universe.

  • Molecular Manipulation: Ability to rearrange the molecular structure of matter and energy up to a cosmic scale.
Telepathy: He can read minds and project his own thoughts into the minds of others on unlimited radius. His notable abilities include:

  • Telepathic Illusion: Ability to create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
  • Telepathic Cloak: Can mask his presence from being detected by others. He can extend these defenses to others around him as well.
  • Mind Link: Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
  • Telepathic Camouflage: Ability to mask himself, and other peoples' presence from those around him. Can telepathically disguise himself, making his appearance to those around him quite different (Changing the appearance of clothing, as well as more detailed disguising.).
  • Mind Control: Ability to control the minds of others just by trying.
  • Mind Possession: Ability to possess the mind of another, and use that being's body as his own.
  • Mind Alteration: Ability to alter the minds of others by force of will.
  • Mental Amnesia: Ability to cause loss of particular memories, and amnesia in another person or even in a group of people.
  • Psionic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of himself and of others' minds.
  • Psionic Blasts: Can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and can even kill an adversary.
  • Astral Projection: Ability to Astral Travel and communicate with others astrally through his own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others. In the astral realm, he can use his powers to create "ectoplasmic" objects.
  • Mental Detection: Can sense the presence of other superhuman mutants within a small but as yet undefined radius of himself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
  • Mind Transferal: Able to transfer both his mind and powers into other host bodies should his own physical body be somehow killed.
Telekinesis: Possesses telekinetic abilities enabling him to levitate and manipulate living beings, inanimate objects, and to some extent energy psionically. He can “lift” as much as 10 tons of weight at such an undeveloped age and potentially an unlimited amount of weight and it can enable himself to “fly” at great speed.

  • Bio-Blasts: Ability to fire enormously powerful energy blasts which he generates from his body's extrasensory potential.
Precognitive Dreams: Precognitive abilities, which manifest themselves in his dreams, enabling him to envision possible future events. Although there are countless possible futures, Franklin foresees the most probable future path, and therefore his predictions usually come true. Franklin seemingly cannot foresee events more than roughly a few days in the future. Franklin's precognitive power developed to the point at which he could see images of future events when conscious.

Dream-Self Projection: Ability to place himself in a trance-like state while remaining fully conscious. While he is in this trance, he can project an intangible, ghostlike image of himself to another location, through which he can see and hear what goes on at the location. What Franklin has called the “dreams” he has while in this state are not truly dreams, but his conscious awareness of the environment into which he has projected his “dream-self.”

Franklin Richards has imposed mental blocks within his own mind to prevent him from using most of his psionic potential while he is still such a young child. It is possible that the strength of these blocks has faded over time, or that they cannot prevent him from utilizing his full powers unconsciously, as he did in creating the alternate reality to which he dispatched his parents and others following their clash with Onslaught. The mental blocks also work only when Franklin is in his physical body; his astral form can apparently use all of his psionic potential if it has separated from his physical form.

The mental blocks did not restrict Franklin from using his precognitive abilities, which manifest themselves in his dreams, enabling him to envision possible future events.

It is implied Franklin may possess some form of (possibly hereditary) superhuman intellect, as thought by the Thing, who was greatly surprised that a mere seven-year old was able to come up with the idea of consulting the prisoners for aid, and attributes this to being the son of Reed Richards. This is also possibly connected with residues of Franklin’s immense mental powers.
More on Reality Warping/Manifestation:
Reality warping is a superpower in superhero fiction. It is the ability to reshape matter and energy, create or alter life and matter, turn a person's thoughts or desires into reality, simulate any and all other powers and abilities, bend time and space, and possibly even rewrite the laws of physics.

All things are possible for a reality-warper, making them seem omnipotent. The Joker, wielding the power of Mr. Mxyzptlk as "Emperor Joker", was even able to rewrite logic itself, for example, making the whole world believe that 2 + 2 equals "fish".

Some of the most extreme reality warpers, like Mxyzptlk and James Jaspers, are not even limited by their own physical bodies and can alter their own stature and appearance at will to become whatever they want to be, no matter how bizarre it might be.
So to summarize, with the help of Sage, Franklin can learn to rewrite the universe around him at will. He can create immediate action at any thought, causing our enemies to flee for their lives, wipe them completely from existence, erase their memories, convert them to his side by changing their alignments, duplicate them as heroes, shift their and his age/shape/location/matter qualities/number/size/density/etc. at will, teleport them into some far off universe, etc. Additionally, he will learn how to expand and control this ability to only use it for the good of humanity, and he has always demonstrated a propensity for good above all else. He can also give superpowers to others, and increase or decrease the powers of others at will! With Silver Surfer, Rachel Summers, Aslan, and Sage there will be plenty of help protecting him from those manipulating telepaths, and Rogue can also gain his abilities too by absorbing his power for a time. She can act as a check and balance of his power for those few unwanted side effects from fear and idle imagination. Furthermore, with Aslan as a guiding force, he will be educated with a morale code and values relative to a benevolent Godlike being.

Thanks for drafting everyone. Let's get those rankings and write-ups in this week. Also, feel free to post a summary/list of those characters who were alternates that didn't get drafted. I'm sure there are some gems in there:). (Those might want to wait until the villains draft is over though...:))

I'm really looking forward to the team write-ups. I'm going to be especially interested in seeing how people can reconcile the omnipotent heroes into a team concept, since most of those people were not - as I understand it - team players.

I had some that I would love to have drafted, mainly Rambo, Daredevil or Conan the Barbarian. One problem is none really have "superpowers".
