SUNS will struggle this year.....

I feel that the SUNS will not do as well as they have the past few years.....they have lost a lot of role players in the off season......they have some good bench players, but I think their style is easy to figure out and the Kings could lock them down in the playoffs.....IMHO.....

what a random post

It has to be proven first, speculation doesn't mean anything. Unless they get shut down every other night, their style is effective, all because of Nash. Persoanlly, i think the Suns rely on their superstar more than any other team in the league, except maybe the cavs. Take away nash and their offense comes to a complete stop. Remember the first year nash was with the Suns and he was out for like 5 games and they lost every single game. Amare was averaging a lot less in terms of points and when nash came back, amare dropped like 30. THe Suns make everyone on their team look better than they really are because they are ALL offense.

i disagree, they only lost timmy, and they got marcus banks over ediid house, id much rather have marcus, not only for now, but for the long term, marcus has the potentail to eventually be there starter after nash retires or gets older, eddie never could have done that, they also get back amare, who whould have eaten up tims minutes...id much rather have marcus banks then timmy thoms and eddie casa

i dont think they'll go as good as last yr but i dont think they will struggle... they got their main core back from last yr in nash, bell, marion and an ever improving diaw...

only loss is thomas but he came at the end of last season where they were still winning games before him... he only started playing well in the playoffs (*cough* contract yr *cough*)

also i rekon you'll see a further improvement on players games such as marcus banks and particularly barbosa...

i just wonder how with amare returning they will cope...

Let's see...Amare replaces Tim Thomas, Banks replaces House -- yep, they sure did get weaker.

C- Amare
PF- Marion
SF-Diaw
OG- Bell
PG-Nash

6th- K. Thomas PF/C
7th- James Jones PF/SF/OG
8th- Barbossa OG/PG
9th- Banks PG
10th- Jumaine Jones SF/OG

Yep, looks weak to me...oh how will the little dears survive?

What a foolish thread. If Nash stays healthy, so does the Suns win total.

i fully agreed. this is why Nash is the MVP and not Kobe, or Lebron or Wade. i remembered watching a Suns game with Nash not playing, their players were so out of place. they couldnt run any offense. you can truly see how much different Nash make.

Nash staying healthy is the key here. He goes down and so do the Suns, even with Amare back.

if he goes down for a long time maybe, but suns can do damage in the post season no matter if they get 1 or 8, amare should be fully recovered, and banks is actually a helluv a back up point guard he probably play very well in dantonis system, plus hes a helluv pressure defender

but ya this thread is irridickulous, suns will be fine next year

Amare being fully healthy is not a given, it is yet to be proven. Even he admits he is not 100% and look how long he has been out. The Suns should be fine, but can't afford to lose Nash over an extended period of time.

Suns are good and they will be good this year, but I dont expect them to be a top seed again and I dont expect them to win the pacific this year.

They came in with an offense that took everyone by surprise and teams did not find a way to understand the offense and find a way to shut it down. But the lakers playoffs last year showed that there are some ways to contain this offense and to stop them. Phil broke down the suns offense and they were just one rebound away from closing them out. The way they played defense and picked them apart showed that lots of things that Nash does on the court with his left hand, behind the back passes or all those fancy passes were not something he created instantly on the court but are sets that the suns practice and play as per the set play.

One play that comes to mind is, Nash driving the lane with another playing following him at about 4 feets distance, Nash gets to the FT line and puts in a bounce pass under his legs for the person behind him to catch and the lakers picked that every time. Lakers showed that the suns can be contained and with some better players and better shooting they would have eliminated the suns last year.

If the lakers with that kind of a talent can do that, I am sure many other teams would have watched the playoffs and understood how to play the suns. I am guessing that the suns would have a tougher time this year with Amare or not.

Just like the St Loius rams, their offense under Mike Martz was so potent and crazy that the other teams had no clue what to do with them for some time. It was new and unconventional so other teams take a tougher time adjusting to them in the regular season, but come playoffs they will take care of it. Also there is a reason why unconventional line ups / schemes have had little success in any sport.
