I wouldn't play IT/Jimmer together for more than a few mins, or JJ/Hayes together for more than a few. Rather mix IT/Jimmer with Thornton/Reke, and always have either JT or Cousins on the court, unless in foul trouble.

My problem isn't him playing the bench guys, it's how he groups them.

This makes total sense. He doesn't have to have all bench players or the combos you mentioned. The only thing I can think of that explains it has been mentioned and that isthat they are used to playing together. Given the lack of practices and preseason they don't have a lot of time to play different combos so they go with players who understand each other.
