Summer League Roster

Unfortunately that is what we said LAST year.

Yah but you cannot deny that he looks much better at the end of last year than he did at any other time. He's apparently working hard and I give him props for that.

I cannot wait to see Corey Hawkins. I saw him a few times at UCD and he was clearly the best player on the court almost every time I saw him. He can definitely shoot. He's an undersized SG but can definitely be a good bench / 6th man kind of player. 6'3 I believe. He has PG skills but nothing I would count on in the NBA.

With the kings being in a limited cap room kind of way, finding a guy like Hawkins or Liggins, etc who can fill a need would be great......kind of like Moreland potentially. In a year or so when some contracts come off the books, we will be in better shape to acquire better FAs

If we trade either of Ben/Nik, I would be unsurprised to see Hawkins make the team as a fifth guard. Kid can shoot.

Hawkins is an undersized SG, who can pass, and also a rookie, who just went undrafted. No team, thinking about POs should have him anywhere close to rotation, and 5th guard is one injury away from logging 10-15 minutes every game. Divac should pick up Toney Douglas or Will Bynum or another fringe guy with 5 years of sitting on NBA benches, before looking at someone like Hawkins. Hawkins is bound for D-League with some call-ups starting in January, if he performs very well right from the start.

SL roster usually carries 12-13 guys, and so far we have 11 names, which means Ben may still get on the court. Thing is trying out Mclemore as a lead guard would be much more helpful than playing off the ball and catching a few oops, which he is destined for given the composition of the roster.

Trying out Ben as a WHAT???

Ben would be the second youngest guard on that SL team after Nik and the only one, who already had 16points(.597TS%) + 3assists month in the NBA, even if it was for one of the worst teams in the league and that month was April. Developing young talent and building team culture should be the focus of SL.

Looks like this is first group of Kings summer league guys that I put together from 5-6 different sources and is NOT official:

PG David Stockton/Juwan Staten 6-1 WVU
SG. Stauskas/Corey Hawkins 6-3 UCD
SF. Shaq McKissic 6-5/David Wear 6-10 UCLA
DeAndre Liggins 6-6 UK 08-11 (played w/Boogie)
PF. Eric Moreland/Juce Dukan 6-11 Wisc Sr. croatia
C. WCS/Bhullar

Here's a link to the entire Summer roster....in addition to he previously mentioned players, these vets stood out for me...

James Anderson, 6'6, SG..started for Philly 2 years ago and played overseas last year....solid guy, could be cheap option if trades are made thinning backcourt

Julian Stone, 6'6, combo guard, formerly with Den and Tor.....always thought he was interesting because of his size....worth a look
