[Game] Summer League Game 3: Kings v. Warriors - 3:30 PDT/6:30 EST

My all time favorite computer game still. Won 100s of games and still to this day occasionally fire one up. V was a disappointment comparatively.

Hmm...just talking about it is getting me that itch again. Always had this dream of getting a small continent all to myself as somebody nice and expansionistic, like maybe the Americans. And then without interruption from wars dominating the early game and building nearly all the wonders. But its near impossible not to fall behind in tech out there by yourself. Still, the dream endures.

You have more determination than I do. I literally play for about three or four hours, then save. Next time I play, I always start over, because my favorite part is picking out the city locations, exploring, and securing boundaries. So I have hundreds of saved games that I've never finished.

p.s. I agree with you on Civ5...it's good, but not as good. Religion and culture were done much better in 4, IMO.

I'm not sure if anyone posted the link to the video itself for people who haven't seen it. This is a link to the twitter post that contains the video. Is there a good way to get hold of the video itself from this source? If so, I need to learn it.

To me, it's a bit awkward, but whatever. George put out his hand, Cuz shook it, then Cuz walked away. Might have been disrespectful, might not have. Nothing to report, although I'm sure people (especially national reporters) will start all kinds of crap about it. Bill Simmons probably has multiple tweets ready to go.
Things are not rosy, which is all I can say. It'll be interesting to see how things get worked out by Vlade between those two. Because we may have signed a bunch of talented new guys, but things can go south pretty much off the bat of your coach isn't on the same page as your best player.

They don't have to hug. They don't have to be besties. They don't even have to like each other. What they do have to do is be professionals and do what they're earning lots of money to do. They didn't kill each other. They didn't avoid each other. Let's just be content with a small step forward.
I love Cuz, but... Cuz certainly did avoid Karl. Everything short of holding up a stop sign and saying "talk to the hand"

Have many many uncompleted games saved off for the same reason. :)

Have won the game so many times I know when its just a matter of playing out the string to an inevitable conclusion, so I don't feel too bad about just calling it a victory and starting over, unless it has a chance at a really big score. :)

I respectfully disagree. You see what you want/need/expect to see. I'm not reading anything into this, for the simple reason I think both DMC and Karl can put aside their personal feelings for the good of the team. If they don't, it will be on Vlade to solve the problem...and I think he'll make sure it never comes to that point.

I think you guys will have one of the best front courts in the league (especially defensive). I think eventually if WCS turns into a stud, and I believe he will, you will have 2 offensive powerhouses at 5 and 3 and the eraser/rebounding in WCS/Moreland to compete. I don't know how will Moreland can guard some of the stretch 4s in the league but most traditional rebounding bigs can't. I believe WCS will supply many intangibles in improving the overall defensive efficiency. I was worried about his offensive game, but it looks like he is legitimately developing it.

WCS was a project player out of HS (wasn't even recruited in his backyard by Kansas) and was just as focused on football as basketball. I wouldn't say he was seen as a lazy guy, but definitely complacent and in need of a new training and practicing outlook. Had he played basketball his whole life and played AAU since the time he was a kid, he would be WAY more developed. He is just now learning the game and I believe, with DMC to show him the way, he will blossom into a defensive MVP caliber player. I am interested to see how Rondo can fit in and run this offensive, DMC reminds me (somewhat) of the kind of player KG was at Boston and we all witnessed the kind of success they had together.

OK there is a difference between prematurely declaring a state of doom and/or panicking and/or "seeing what I wanted/needed to see", and simply calling a spade a spade. I agree it will be resolved in the end and I'm very "hype for the season", but I don't see how you can say with a straight face that Cuz's body language and eye contact during the Karl meeting today were fine by any remote stretch of the word. If you went up to somebody and greeted them, and were met with the look-away and quick exit like that, I don't believe you if you say you would not feel dissed. No reasonable person, confronted with body language like that, would not feel dissed.

But I do agree that they can work together as professionals.

We will agree that we interpret DMC's body language differently.

Yeah at first I was hoping that Cuz walked away quickly just so they could go talk. But it appears that he stayed and talked with Cassipi. Not a good look on Boogie's part imo, but it's not the end of the world either. I'm not going to put too much into it, but I'm sure the media will.

After seeing all the clips form the Rondo interview, it may wind up as the greatest irony of all time - when Rajon Rondo turns out to be the guy with the bad boy cred to actually reach Cuz and get him to let bygones be bygones and knock off the crap with coach so they can win the damn games. Wouldn't really surprise me if it goes down something like that.

They really ought to do a Hard Knocks for the training camp this year. I'd buy the subscription for sure.

Look. Something we totally agree on. :)

Did anyone else catch the brief exchange between Cuz and George Karl at halftime today?

That was not good. Cousins does not trust Karl and understandably so. This is not something that can be swept under the rug.

You'll see plenty of reaction in this thread.

Honestly all I see is a couple of grown men acting like babies. Cuz has a little more justification for his annoyance but that's it.

I don't think it was great of him to walk off from Karl, there was no danger of Karl sitting with him there were no seats.

I think Cuz was just getting ready to head to the locker room anyway (halftime just started) and then he was not expecting Karl to show up right when he was about to get up, so we had that awkward moment. He acknowledged Karl, noticed they were at the center of all attention in the Arena all of a sudden, might have panicked a lil and then went inside like he was about to do anyway. lol I can't believe I'm analyzing this.

Who's the fat white dude that just came in for the Warriors? looks like some random guy they found off the streets! lol

true story, that dude was, and had been up to SL, an Uber Driver. which is about as fitting as it could get. you can learn more about him here (minute 15 on):

According to Amick it all stems from Karl saying "no one is untradable" I mean yeah that might smart me for a couple of days, maybe a week but honestly....

I suspect it was heightened during all the rumours about Karl wanting him out, but what bits of that were true who knows.

lets face it though who hasn't hated their boss at one time or another, yet I'm still turning up to work and I'm still professional. That goes for the boss and the employee.

Jason Jones article said he got summoned to talk to Vivek at that time. But of course national media is going to make a story out of it.
That makes sense. Who knows Karl may have mentioned that Vivek was getting everyone together.

After reading much of the reaction here, I was expecting a stink eye, head shake and ignore scoot. I saw two guys uncomfortable with the situation greet each other awkwardly, exchange a few words and both walk off.

I'm sorry, but it just seems like Cuz is a drama queen. He seems to always have some sort of issue with somebody whether it's a coach, teammates, referees, etc. If he's really interested in building a winner then he needs to get over it and get on the same page.

To be fair Karl didn't walk off.

Since I was there, and witnessed the whole thing, I thought I would give my humble opinion. To me, it looked like an uncomfortable meeting for both of them. To quote Jimmy Stewart in the movie "How the West was won" when talking to his leading lady. He said, "Confronting you is like coming face to face with a grizzly bear on a narrow ledge. There's no ignoring the situation." That's sort of the situation Cuz and Karl were faced with. The ice had to be broken. It was a start. Now, as that was happening, the Kings were setting up a photo shoot over in the corner, and Cousins was being called over. So he left! Yes, he could have left a little less abruptly, but when your in an uncomfortable situation, and you see a way out of it, you take it.

It's one thing to deal with your issues in private, but it's quite another to deal with them when the national media looking on, and that was the case yesterday. No doubt it would have been nice if Cousins had given Karl a big bear hug, and kissed him on the forehead, but did we really expect him to do that? Whenever, and however they work out their differences, it has to be done in private, where words can be exchanged, and differences explained. And to be honest, what happens there is none of our business. All we need to know is that they've laid down their weapons and signed a peace treaty.

Not that I'm not a fan of blowing that interaction up into King sized dimensions, but there's a chance Karl said "hey, what's up, we're all doing a photo op back there." Boogie "cool cool, I'll meet you there."

But continue onward Kings fans!

and yet, no photo!
