Steve francis Anyone???

Since everyone is so hell bent on seeing Ron or Mike go, what does everyone think about swapping mike for Steve Francis and maybe the #23 pick? Steve can bring that added defense we need in our backcourt, steve is a finisher, quick hands, quick feet, a great slasher and playmaker, and we get another pick in the deep draft i think the knicks would do this trade in a heart beat, hes always benched gets no pt, but this guy still has potential, I'm all for Mike Bibby but if he had to go, I'll do it for S.F. i believe steve would make a great impact on our team, not sure if salarys match but there pretty close im sure we could add in some fillers for a few of theirs here and there to make it work, i think steve is forgotten but surely not washed up so what do you guys think yah or nay!!!!

Its been raised before, and its a solid scheme to dump salry. But that salary doesn't get dumped until after NEXT year, so unless you are dumping longer term deals along with Mike or Ron, its not helping. And Mike cannot really go to New York because thy are already awash in PGs. Even if we take Francis, that still leaves Marbury, Crawford, Conlon and Crazy Nate. So NY deals largely have to focus on dumping guys like KT or Brad or Reef or Salmons in there, opr using New York as a third team while we dump those guys elsewhere.

Just a thought, i think if we had steve we could make a decent push at a playoff spot, i think he can really dictate tempo and push the ball with the best of em' but ny does have a stock of Pg's but i think ny would rather keep mike and trade away S.M., because with the current team the knicks are not jelling either also new york has a tendency to pull of bad trades, and dumping off cap space would be very nice but I actually want to see want steve F. can bring to the kings table.

Funny just a bit after signing Reef and Salmons we're discussing "dumping" their contracts.

I would wholeheartedly agree with you here, I'd much rather play a lesser younger player than play guys like Reef and Salmons who would only give us another 3-4 wins a year.

You are thinking about the Francis of a few years ago. There was talk about NY buying him oput because of his injuries. Francis wouldn't be the answer at PG for a team wanting to make the playoffs.

Not the pont with Francis -- people pondering trading for him normally aren't really counting on any great revival on court, although I think there might still be a kind of bonus potential there. The idea is that he's a big unwanted contract, and New York is a place that for many years got a rep for always being wiling to cycle through worse and worse contracts. Basically he might represnt the way to dump players with long term salaries in there, pick up a few cheap nothings (kids, picks), and just take Francis to match the salaries.

um..no thanks. I'll pass on Steve Francis. Never really liked him as a player and I don't think he'll fit in here.

When they were signed, there was still some expectation that we were a piece or two away from contending which is obviously not the case anymore. A lot can change in one 33 win season.

to everyone who says "NO THANKS" why not??? steve still has potential i think he would fit in here, and like baron davis he would arise to the situation and have sucess here in sac town, sure steve ball hogged in orlando but this was when D. howard was a rook and no one else could score but Steve francis, so i would have to over look that, i'm just saying if we trade off bibby give me steve francis maybe it will work out for us or the knicks but who knows, mike is not happy here in this current situation and steve isn't either, swapping them out for one another can benefit us with some younger guys and a 50/50 chance at steve francis bringing some life to arco, just my thoughts.
