doing all this without the big three vet guns of Artest-Martin-Miller. There's something to be said there, and there certainly looks to be a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's shining brighter now.

Based on the many different lineups we've seen this year, I'm thinking that a lot of that light is coming from the end of Artest's stay. He's undoubtedly a great ballplayer, but this particular team often seems to play better basketball without him.

Things that make you scratch your head:

Spenser Hawes, rookie lottery pick:
33min 17pts (8-14FG 0-1 3pt 1-2 FT) 3reb 3ast 0stl 2blk 0TO

Mikki Moore, 33yr old journeyman:
34min 6pts (3-6FG 0-0 3pt 0-0FT) 3reb 0ast 0stl 0blk 2TO

And yet guess which player got all the PT in the 4th?

Maybe we are saving Laker-Killer "Shock and Hawes" for tomorrow night? Gotta have him rested for the thunder dunks, right?

Heck if you project Sheldon's minutes out to Moore's they have almost identical production. Obviously Sheldon has more upside, yet Moore continues to play more. I guess he has to earn his money somehow.

With the exception of mysteriously benching our lottery pick for the 4th quarter, it really was.

We secured the #12 pick -- no chance of falling to #13 now. We played the kids down the stretch (likely because we had no choice, but still) and got them experience. We kept it close and made it fun for the fans. And we set up tommorow night as a game in which there is no downside whatsoever to us going out and beating our rivals. Of course it may be too late for it to matter to them -- think only the Hornets can still catch them now, and only if we beat them and the Hornets win out.

It was a win win for us tonight. I want to see Sheldon in the starting lineup tommorrow. It would not hurt since the Lakers have no real PF anyways. His defense and energy might help tommorrow.

I look forward to piksi's writing, period!

And no--none of us are going to their damned parade, none of us will be yelling MVP when Kobe comes to Arco and no--none of us like the Lakers, so get real here.

I must say, to see a KING'S FAN call us Queens makes me sad!!! Annie.

I stayed away from this thread for pretty obvious reasons. I will say one thing, however...

No matter how upset or frustrated or disappointed someone is in the Kings, there is NEVER justification for calling them the Queens. The players on the court are not to blame for the vast majority of our problems.

No matter how mad you get at a loved one, there are some lines you don't cross in what you say to or about them. I think the Queen comment clearly crossed that line...

I completely 100% agree. I try to ignore it, but it's really insulting. Maybe not quite as bad was calling Reggie Theus a dispicable Muss Jr. after all he represented as a player for the Kings and now as a rather remarkable first year NBA head coach. I assume the poster is just a juvenile or still acts like one.

I agree and i'm done hearing all this about draft picks and the future and what not. The Kings have a chance to finish 40-42 and I'll be damned if you cant think of ten winnable games this season that couldve put them in the playoffs. Reggie has done a tremendous job. If they finished above .500 than he would get my vote for COY. Also, Kings WILL make playoffs next season. So all you negative nannies, stuff it already.

I'm a kings fan, but i'm willing to bet you that we WONT make the playoff barring a major trade this offseason (bmiller/artest trade for higher picks or all star returning to the kings). The warriors didnt even make the playoff this year with a near 50 win season. What makes you think its going to get any easier next year with team like Portland getting into the hunt?

hey i think it would be a great achievement if we get 1 game over .500 next year.

its been 2 years since we've been over .500

and i don't even mean at the end of the season, i would love to see us 1-0 at the start of the year :)
