Something tells me Artest will....

Kingsin07

G-League
1.) End up a Houston Rocket within the next month

2.) Praise the Kings, then bash the Kings, then say he would still love to play in NY the day after he has said he is excited to be the difference maker that will win a title in Houston

3.) Make the Rockets a legitimate contender

4.) Best of all, be somebody else's headcase

I dont think Houston has anything we really want. B jax would b purely 4 nastalgia. Not a fan of the trade above. We could do much better.

Bobby Jackson (expiring), Aaron Brooks and a 1st could possibly get it done.

Your kidding, right? This is just for fun, right? A 6-0 PG who barely played 12 min/gm, a 6-1 PF who is now in his 30's and a 1st that will be somewhere in the 20's. And this is good for the Kings, how?

An expiring contract, a kid, and a pick. That's precisely the deal that the Kings wanted out of Denver at the deadline with Najera/Kleiza/late 1st, which most people would have been fine with. The Kings are weak at PG, and Brooks is a prospect at that position. The draft pick isn't a great one, but a first rounder is a first rounder. Jackson is a nostalgic acquisition, but he's more valuable because he's an expiring.

I'm not saying it's the best deal in an ideal world, but unless Artest's value has drastically increased, this is probably the type of deal that's realistic.

Shane Battier and Brooks works too, and Artest takes all of Battier's minutes anyway, though I don't see why Houston would want Artest.

They're looking for a third scorer with T-Mac and Yao, and probably wouldn't mind Ron's defense either.

I'd do nbrans's deal, although maybe I'd try to squeeze out a Greene or Hardin too.

We dont needs picks anymore, we need veterans who want to play well for sacramento. Bobby Jackson is not an option for the same reasons Doug Christie and Vlade Divac aren't options. Aaron brooks is a goodpickup, but why would we trade for him when he is aobut to be a FA soon enough. We Can pick him up then. So this trade is Artest to Houston for a 1st round pick.....Laughable

1) addition by subtrraction

2) you are selling Aaron Brooks more than a little short. Legitimate young spakplug off the bench -- much better shot at filling that role than Singletary. And a guy we were reportedly interested in last year in the draft.

3) and a pick of course. Picks are ALWAYS good. Even 20s.

This fantasy that if we swap Ron for some vet we are going to be "good" is laughable. If we do swap him for a vet, the only purpose is to bring back a large ender to let go at the end fo the year and clear cap space. Its always going to about the kids and picks. And frankly any large vet is going to steal minutes from young guys who need the time.

the problem remains that I don't think Houston can afford to get rid of Bobby AND Brooks, after already getting rid of James last season, and putting Francis on furlough. Unless Franchise can make a comeback, they would have no backup PGs at all, and that behind a very shaky starter.

We do not want Battier's contract. Battier is the type of guy to be the final piece to a contending team. To a rebuilding team he's just clutter. And 30+ year old clutter too. As a general rule we shoud be trading for anybody that old, unless they are an expiring.

I agree that I'd rather not take vets with long term deals. I'd make an exception in this case because Battier is the anti-Ron in terms of personality, character, etc. and I think Battier actually *is* a movable piece for just the reason you said. If the Kings make this deal, one of Battier or Salmons would absolutely have to go.

I'm not saying it's the best trade, but I'd make it if my only other choice was keeping Artest.

if you would recall rick adelman coached artest for half a season and in the playoff games 3 years ago against the spurs...

and if i remember correctly artest offered to have a paycut if adelman were to be resigned together with bonzi because he "loves" them

so i think it might work...

They have Hardin too? I thought they just had Dorsey and Greene? If they got both then that was a really good draft:eek:.

But yeah it'd be nice to get 1 of Greene or Hardin also.
