Soft(sissy) fouls

Is it just me or do the Kings lead the league in soft fouls? What is a soft/sissy foul you might ask. Well, I think we all agree as too what a hard fould looks like. Not dirty, just making sure that if a player is driving to the hoop and putting up a shot he is fouled in such a manner where he has no chance of making the shot.

The soft/sissy foul is just the opposite. To me Peja is the main culprit but not alone by any means. How many times do we have to watch an opposing player drive the lane(green lights all the way) begin to hoist a shot or layup only to have a King slap(not enthusiastically) at the ball, fouling said player who manages to make the shot and usually convert the free throw. It's like they don't really want to attempt to stop the shot but they feel like they need to do seomthing.

Do the Kings lead the league in this?

Not sure if the Kings lead the leage or anything, really more often than not wat we see as a soft foule is either a dumb move or stuff that is usualy ignored suddenly getting a whiltle (like touch fouls) But I will back you up 100% on the idea that soft fouls suck. My philospphy is you get 6 make all of them count! Stop a break away by grabing the guy, sne a cutter to the line by hitting him hard enough to stop the shot. The bane of any team is the +1 fouls that turn a 2 point paly in to a 3 point play and often take big men out of games...

I've seen Brad and Tag both dish out some impressive fouls this year, and even Bibby did it once. What I would like to see is Pedja smack the crap out of somebody once in a while just to show them he really is a 6'10" forward and not some little PG on stilts.

You know I swear certain players like Brad Miller can breathe on someone and get a foul, yet he can get strangled on the other end and not have anything called his way. It's been like this every since the kings have had any success. Not sure why.

id pay to just have that on video

The only hard fouls I've seen Brad Miller do is the one he did on Shaq back in Chicago. Brad is a very soft player IMO. I dunno, everytime I watch him play, he either gets blocked or slaps somebodies arm on the foul. Oh well, his passing and scoring make up for it.

Amen to that. I too would love to see him get mean with some punk denfender all up in his jersey ala Bruce Bowen, honestly next time a defender grabs him if he would just spin with an elbow and brek loose shure he would get called for at least a foul if not a flagrant but defenders might give him a little more room.

Yeah Peja doesn't foul hard but that's all a part of his game. I've never seen him do a hard foul, all his fouls come mostly on a fastbreak when he tries to stop it.

And every other player in the NBA knows it, too. That's one of the reasons he should try to change, just a little. Even one occasional hard foul a week would get the message out that he wasn't a marshamallow any longer...

Completely agree

O-tag needs more playing time cause he just plain gets it done on D, and when he fouls, they don't score. I am so tired of seeing Miller with his little "pouty face" on almost every game, he takes himself out of the game by getting wrapped up in what the refs are calling him on that night and goes downhill from there. There have been some ticky tack fouls as of late called on him but damn't your 7'0, if your gonna foul, FOUL. I absolutely love having Miller on the team though, he does things that other centers just aren't capable of, yet I hate to say it but there are some things he could do better ( get A block once in while ). Love the PG on stilts cooment too, Peja is someone I have no words for lately, I'm neutral on that subject, anyone who's 6'10 and averges like 4 boards a game needs someone to slap him. At that size 7 or 8 is respectable, but Peja has so many upsides I guess it kinda evens out .JMHO

Realistically though, Peja foul hard? Just almost inconceivable. Peja's never going to be a tough guy. Fankly I'd settle for him just being smart and not taking that little half hearted weenie swipe. Goes for the rest of the guys too. Either commit to the foul, or don't do it at all. Guy's going to score anyway, just giving him points to lightly slap them on the wrist on the way by.

Bah! I stnad by my school of hard knocks theory. Next of season Pedja just needs to spend 2 montsh playing for food money at Ruckers park. No win no eat. He would learn how to get open by hook or by crook!

I said "one hard foul a week." I think that's something he could try. It's not like he'd be stepping into the ring or anything...

And besides, he could always pick someone smaller to mug. He plays like he's about 6'1" so that still leaves a few guys...

That's because Brad complains alot, and he also falls on the ground alot. So refs don't know whether to give him the call when he slams into the ground, or if he just does it himself. Brad gets zero respect from the refs, it's very annoying, but that's what complaining will get you. (Unless you're a superstar in which complaining gets you every call in the book ::cough:: Kobe ::cough::
