Tonight I realized how many more outside of Sacramento in the NBA know the Kings problems. Down here we may be out of the main stream but not out of the loop. In the early part of overtime the Utah broadcasters (I was listening on XM satellite radio driving back to San Diego) said the following: "The Kings are 17-32. It's not hard to understand why, poor late game management."

It is not only obvious to us but It seems to most other NBA media as well. How can it continue to be ignored? Any solution seem better than status quo, don't you think? I do now.

Blind Freddy can see it BUT, I am beginning to strongly believe that Smart as incompetent as he is, is actually under instruction to lose in this manner so that a) it alienates the fans so the Seattle sale is easier to approve and b) the new ownership gets a better chance at the #1 overall pick in the draft.

Crazy talk

A more realistic reason (although I like a good conspiracy) is that the Maloofs are too broke to care anymore.

the single most realistic reason.. is that the maloofs continue to be too stupid to notice much of anything.
(plus, you are right, they ALSO just don't care anymore)

Whatever you think of Smart i do believe he's doing what he thinks is best.

I think you're absolutely right on this point, sad as it may be. I still hold him accountable for his stupid decisions, but ultimately, this falls on the Maloofs for:
1. Hiring him in the first place.
2. Extending his contract, and
3. Keeping him

It's abundantly clear that he's in over his head, but what can we do? The team is in self-destruct mode and the owners are fine with that. I don't even know that it's a conspiracy by the Maloofs, because it would be too obvious. Which, now that I think about it, seems right up their short-sighted alley. We need this sale to go through, and we need it to go Sacramento's way.

At this point it's just being stubborn. There is no way he actually feels that this way he is coaching is the best way to win games. He had a plan and he is sticking to it. Hell at the end of the Half or 3rd Quarter, I can't remember which one, he had 5 guards in. Or was that the last ofensive possesion of the game? Jeez, they are all blurring together. Doesn't matter it was a situation where we needed a bucket so he put Jimmer, Thomas, Thorton and Salmons on the out skirts of the 3 point line and let Tyreke go one on one from the top of the key. Hell, that's not even a good play at Rucker park.

Nellie used to do that with Sarunas back in the day with the GSW:) Of course Rooney would get hammered most of the time and end up at the foul line.

The Maloofs have essentially abandoned Sacramento at this point. They have left Sacramento and I don't think they care anymore what's going on with the team. After all, they've got their money. Nothing is going to change on this team until there is new ownership in place.

I guess that is the bottom line and nothing we fans can do about it. The embarassing part is now other cities and other media know as well from just watching the dysfunctional team. If relocation committee doesn't meet until mid-Apri, seems no new owner can be confirmed before then, or can they?

The relocation committee ONLY approves the request by the new owners to move the team. Any such request can only be acted upon if the sale to Seattle is approved.

I would like to add that I meant the Maloofs are going to get their sale money. I'm hoping it will be from the Sacramento buyers.
