So, if we play the kids and we win is that okay?

Since everyone wants Reggie to play the younger guys more and they win, would that be ok to the fan base as long as Douby, Williams, Hawes, Garcia and Martin get the majority of the minutes?

Shelden got 24 minutes and looked very good tonight against Houston.

If they continue to win with the younger players playing more, it still gives us a mid first round pick. Kind of a catch-22. I don't mind... especially if Robin Lopez falls in our laps at #12 or somewhere around there. We'd HAVE to pick him. Robin at the 5 and Hawes at the 4 or vice-versa? I'd like that.

Just looking for opinions.

Well yeah of course it's okay if we win, just as long as the younger guys get minutes. It's not okay if we lose and the younger guys don't play either. It was nice to see Shelden get a lot of PT tonight. If he can develop into a good player, Cisco can, Q/Beno can, and Spencer(once his ankle heals) can then the W/Ls are irrelevant IMO. Of course a win is funner to watch though.

Absolutly! At this point a top 3 pick is nearly out of the question so our pick is likley to be a project pick anyway. So play the kids espcially spenser and Sheldon, and see what they bring. I don't know if either of them will become a top big man, a bust or more likely somewhere inbetween but the only way to find out is play them.

Not to turn this into a draft thread but Robin is closer to 2nd round talent. His brother is probably top 5 at this point however.

Yes, especially now where there's little hope of moving up much further in the draft.

In general, it is still ok. You want the youngsters to be trying to win, and many of us prefer to root for the team to win while watching even if we'd prefer a loss for draft reasons.

However, I would still prefer the loss.

So it is ok, but not preferable. You want the young guys to succeed and do well if they play, but you also want the benefit of the better draft position. If you can possibly get the best of both worlds, then that is ideal.

Does that make any sense?

i hope you don't think Robin Lopez is going to fall to our laps at number 12

he'd be lucky to be taken in the first round.

I think you might be talking of Brook. I still think our best bet is to look for an explosive point guard in this years draft and draft big with our 2 second round picks

From best result to worst result:

Play kids, lose (develop kids, chance at better draft pick)
Play kids win (develop kids, but potentially hamstring franchise in draft)
Play vets, lose (waste time with old guys, but chance at better draft pick)
Play vets, win (waste time with old guys, and potentially hamstring franchise in draft)

In terms of what is good to watch, as opposed to what is best for the franchise, #2 is probably tops, and #3 bottom. But I'm sure the 16 people still watching these games will get over it in exchange for a better tommorow.

And as as aside, little changed with Reggie there. Sheldon played that many minutes because Brad was an idiot. He was going to get some more time, but in Reggie's world that means 6 minutes a half.

I have to say yes. What are you going to do, play the kids and tell them to lose? If we're trying to evaluate talent, let's hope they can win. Doesn't do much for draft position, but the Kings do need to find out who can play.

williams got 30 minutes last year against dallas playing for the hawks. i think this is the most minutes he's racked up in a game since then. solid performance last night. im still trying to figure out why johnson got over 12 minutes. there's nothing dumber than playing a guy that certainly wont be here next year.

Especially because there are so many PGs riding the bench!

don't necessarily need him to handle the ball all the time. don't forget there are capable ball handlers in garcia and salmons. christie was the primary ball handler back in the glory days.

Since neither are future PGs, training them do to so, or placing them in that role, seems unnecessary.

If I want pancakes, I order pancakes. I don't order pancakes and try to turn them into waffles. Yuck.

Yeah, of course winning playing kids is okay, just can they really win? Reggie is going to try to win ever game as if it's his last regardless of whether he's playing kids or not. I'm in favor of playing the kids more time, especially at this point in the season.
Things I'd like to see....
Sheldon Williams develop and start at PF having the type of dominance that he showed in college.
What Hawes can do besides brick 3 pointers.
To see if Douby can score like he did in college and shoot the ball at a higher percentage than Peja (If I recall correctly he did shatter Peja's shooting records during training camp).
See if Beno can improve with playing time and see if he's going to run teh point in the foreseeable future.

Then again, Hawes has a bummed ankle and Beno's back isn't doing too well. To answer the opening question, "Yes."

Why? And what is a perfect pancake?

Perfect Pancakes Recipe

1 egg, separated
2 tablespoons + 2 more tablespoons butter
about 1/2 cup milk

Dry ingredients listed in step 1
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Sift ingredients together into a bowl or combine well with a fork to remove any lumps.

Whip egg white with a whisk until fluffy. Stiff peaks are not necessary, but whipping the egg is a crucial step to adding air to the batter.

Combine butter and egg yolk in a separate bowl and fold in the egg white.

Add the butter and egg to the dry ingredients.

Gradually stir in the wet to dry, adding milk as neccessary to form a smooth batter the consistency of runny porridge.

Heat remaining butter in a hot skillet over medium heat until sizzling.

A standard ladle is approximately how much batter you need for a perfect pancake.

Dump a ladle full of batter into the center of the skillet. It should sizzle lightly. When small bubbles form in the center and the edges start to brown, it's ready to flip.

Turn the pancake over with a spatula to cook the other side. The first pancake absorbs a lot of the butter, as pictured. You could simply use less butter, but I like to have the butter-infused pancake rather than adding butter later.

Transfer the pancake to a plate and cover with tinfoil. Repeat until the remaining batter is gone. This recipe makes about 4-6 pancakes, depending on the size.
