The maloofs apparently not aware of the Westphal press release, they are also not aware of the Smart contract but have given Geoff the green light to decide.

In the presser Geoff really struggled to answer whether the Maloofs were aware of that release.

You know, I'm happy the coaching thing was addressed and Smart got the job and then it was set in stone for two years. For those who wanted Westphal's head, you got it and a new coach. Be happy. You're of course entitled to your opinion.

But you also seem to constantly ignore all which is wrong with this organization. Just because you're a fan doesn't mean you can't be critical. If you think Westy was/is our only problem, and simply firing him which you did not want to do, solved all the problems, simply put I greatly disagree. If you were Petrie, Westy would be coaching us tonight.

The attitude of we're fans, so simply cheer for your team and ignore all which is wrong doesn't fly with me. If you want to do it, go right ahead. But telling myself and others to ignore what everyone else around the country realizes who cover the league, is living in your own little reality where you conveniently have cut off the negatives.

I mean, you constantly disagreed with posters who pointed out what was wrong with the team and coach, even though all the signs were there, right up until the point Westy was canned. If you don't see how dysfunctional our organization is compared to others around the league, I can't help you. Leaders love nothing more than people who blindly follow, as it gives them free reign.

I suppose in the end its not much different than if we just hired him in the offseason. He is an experienced NBA coach with the year with the Warriros behind him, so if you hired any young coach with experience to be your top man you would always offer him at least 2 years.

Most teams pay one coach at a time, and have better records than we do.

For how many years have we now been paying more than one coach, and winning 20 something game per?

When we hired, Natt, Theus, MuscleHead, and Westy, we were paying the previous coach as well. Now we're paying two coaches at the same time again. Then we extend Smart before his first practice. I hope it works out.

But there is definitely reason to question how this team allocates its money, given we keep hearing how broke we are.

This. He has a head coaching record to look at already. A 10 win improvement from the previous year. Maybe it's a fluke, or maybe other reasons were involved other than just coaching, but he seems up to the task. Sounds like the Warriors players respected him, and that's a start.

You're right. I do get tired of the excessive and out of control second guessing of team management. But I do read this site everyday although not all of it. I am interested, I am knowledgable, I do learn but I do tend to let the managers manage. I can also let it go instead of burning every little glitch in my long term memory. So you and I differ and I think there is room for both of us here.

Now that is definitely smart move! A 2 year deal with the 2nd year. It guaranteed or a team option! This gives Smart authority but also gives the Kings flexibility to look at other options if things don't work out without any financial impact!

If you look at his substitutions last night, in regards to minutes played, they were darn near perfect. Your best players should play an average of 36-42 minute a game. Those minutes will fluctuate with foul trouble, fatigue, effectiveness and match-ups. We had 10 guys playing 20-25 minutes before this. No way to have cohesiveness or let your stars play through funks.

Smart mentioned in his post game interview that he sticks with his plan even if a guy hasn't got it going. He was being asked about what he said to Thornton when he was missing early. A guy is going to get his normal minutes so that he doesn't start forcing shots to make something happen. Of course there is a difference between a player like Thornton who you know can get hot and score 30 in one half of basketball.
