I'll almost guarentee that Rambis is brought in for an unprecidented 3rd HC interview with the Kings after the season...and who knows, it might just be his turn...finally.GP can't interview Rambis until after the WCF are over. I wonder if he plans to interview anyone else. GP did say he'd like to have the coach in place before the draft, though.
I think when it's all said and done, Petrie will have to chose from:
Tom Thibedeau
Paul Westphal
Avery Johnson
Mo Cheeks
Kurt Rambis
Byron Scott(if the Maloofs buy out the last year of his contract and NOLA releases him...doubtful)

Co-signed.Good.
This is great news!
Based on nothing, isnt Thibodeau the front runner right now?
I can not begin to explain the feelings of joy that I felt when I logged on a few minutes ago and saw this thread.
JVG nor Collins are interested in the Kings job. Collins just wanted to return to Philly, and he didn't have any other location on his radar. JVG was reported to have no immediate interest in returning to the league, and would probably not want the Kings job anyway.
GP has said he wants a coach in place before the draft. I would have to think all the candidates are going to be pretty darn familiar with the draftees likely to be available to the Kings at #4. So I don't think they need weeks to express their opinion once hired.we need to have an idea or at least get a coach weeks before the draft so he would know who are being scouted and who are those who would fit in HIS system..
what do they ask these potential coaches in the interviews any ways!?
Good coaching questions, like what is your favorite color? Then they do some word association. Or, if the coach is really prepared, he'll show off a powerpoint...

Report: Kings Set to Rehire St. Jean
Saturday, May 30, 2009
By Tish Folluf
Frustrated in their efforts to turn back the coaching clock to the Eddie Jordan era in Sacramento, the Kings have apparently decided to reach back even further.
Gary St. Jean, 158-256 in five seasons at the helm of the Kings in the mid 1990s, is reportedly set to be announced on Monday as Sacramento's new head coach.
St. Jean, who led the Kings to their first playoff appearance in the Sacramento era in 1995, understands the challenges ahead of him.
"Frankly, we're just not very good right now," he said. "But one of the reasons that Geoff (Petrie) told me they wanted to hire me was because I have experience coaching teams nearly as bad."
Per team policy terms were not disclosed, but St. Jean's deal is believed to be for five years.
"We wanted to try to restablish some consistency at the coaching positon," Petrie said. "We felt the best way to avoid the turnover problems we have been having was to award Gary with a longer term deal."
