Simple trades to get a big men

I got two possible trades in my mind now.

Here's the first: (Kings - 76ers)

Nocioni for Kapono/Speights

For Kings:
We get a young big and shooter
Kapono becomes a serviceable shooter with only next season guaranteed for his contract. Speights is an intriguing athelete with good nose on the defensive end.

For 76ers:
They get a SF that can shoot and defend.
Moves Iggy back to SG to give them size.
They already have a lot of bigs who plays infront of Speights and are tied for long contracts in Brand/Dalembert/Young/Brezec/Smith
Dalembert is playing better these days so they may keep them this season and get serious with AI back. Sammy is still an attractive traid bait next season with his big expiring contract.

Here's my other proposal: (Kings - Nets)

Thomas/May for Williams/Battie

For Kings:
We get bigger bigs :D, with defensive instincts
Battie is a good vet and proven rotation player.
He is also an expiring but at 2M less than KT's.
Williams is a ticking bomb but his contract minimizes that issue.
He is team option and qualifying offer for the next two season which is safe switch in case he blows his character.

For Nets:
They get a bigger expiring in KT and May.
Plus May can add a bit of scoring compared to Williams/Battie combo.

But I like the Sixers' trade better as we will still have KT's expiring while adding a very potent big in Speights. Kapono is an efficient shooter that can thrive if we will play Evans' drive and kick plays.

We'd all love the first one more, but I think the Sixers are really high on Speights and had him starting over Brand before he got injured. Sadly we couldn't get him for that package.

Speights isn't going anywhere for anything less than a Kevin package (not advocating putting together a Kevin package to get him, just noting that he is to the Sixers what JT is to us -- young big with potential upside. They really like him.)

Battie & Sean Williams aren't worth us giving up KTs ender for -- they would patch our backup big minutes, but we aren't close enough for that to matter yet. And if we hold onto him KT represents this summer a chance to enter the bidding for everyone form Lebron to Boozer and all parts in between. Which doesn't mean I wouldn't move him. Just means I wouldn't move him for spot players.

I believe Philly may be willing to let go of Speights at lesser price(not the Kevin Martin price) this season than the next and so on. And the key to that is their inability to trade Brand which may just affect their GM's mind to deal other pieces to complement and make Brand more effective and helpful. They have also acquired AI this season, and if things get brighter they might live with more vets to contend at the expense of Speights. Another possible reason to let go of Speights is the truckload of big men coming in the 2010 draft.

As for Kapono, he was brought in to shoot but he's a defensive liability. And that's how Nocioni can fit in their rotation at SF. Moving Iggy back to SG with Young/Brand at PF.

As for the Nets trade, Battie and Williams contract combined is only .4M less than KT's. So it's not a big offset for out potential to be a good FA competitor this summer since Battie is and ender and Williams is a team option. We can let them lose at one time to get a better FA ala Bosh.

What Battie/Williams will offer is a temporary (if nothing pans out as helpful) role player to help stabilize our front court and somehow put some challenge on Spencer and JT and speed up their development this season. With that, I believe getting 2 legit bigs can bring us more wins than KT/May combo. More wins this season (esp. playoffs) are eye candies to big Free Agents of 2010, which would often go to winning teams than cellar dwellers.

For the Nets, its merely adding a different twist by losing their least used bigs to add some other piece that may stir some offense(May) or life(KT :D) in their dead season.

Yeah.. lets get this guy in a kings uni ASAP!

And here I thought I was the only one who thought KT was young, big, and has potential upside. ;)

Speights is going no where for that package in the original trade thread.
Philly has almost NO incentive to give up an expiring contract + a promising young big that has great reach and plays good D for a long term contract. If you added our draft pick to the deal they probably still wouldn't do it.

Just to put this in perspective... Would you guys trade JT + K9 for Brand? Maggette?

Now for KMart, you might get them thinking extremely hard. You might be able to pull off a Kmart for Speights/Thadd Young type trade and try to wheel Thad Young to another team for something
