As the Jazz and the Nets look less likely to be in the running for Kirilenko, it gives us more of a shot to sign him. If we can sign him between 8-10 mil a year, I think it would be worth it. We would be right around the salary cap after signing him.
After we have signed Kirilenko, we should resign Thompson and include him in a sign and trade.
Thornton
Thompson
for
Iguodala
This would be a good deal for the Sixers who have been looking to move Iguodala. Their 3 guard rotation would be Holiday, Williams, and Thornton. Turner and Young can man the SF spot and depending on if they are able to resign Hawes, they will have a big man rotation of Brand, Thompson, and Hawes with Young being able to give them minutes at PF when needed.
This would be our lineup if we made these changes:
Evans/Thomas/Fredette
Iguodala/Salmons/Garcia
Kirilenko/Outlaw/Honeycutt
Robinson/Hayes
Cousins/Whiteside
The outside shooting from Iguodala and Kirilenko is a bit of a question mark for me, but if they both shoot like they did in the last season they played from three (39.4% and 36.7%), then we will be more than alright. The defense would be outstanding. We would have three tall, long, and athletic perimeter defenders. Two of them being recognized around the league for their defense in multiple seasons. Also having Thomas, Salmons, and Outlaw as our backup perimeter players should establish a good defensive presence even in our second unit. I wouldn't consider Robinson or Cousins below average defenders. I'm sure with Cousins' size and length and Robinson's athleticism they will be solid defenders as well. They both aren't known for shotblocking, but Kirilenko can fill that role for us now. Our backup bigs are mainly focused on defense as well and giving Whiteside 4th big minutes hopefully helps him develop a little quicker and become a very good shotblocker for us. Lastly, the rebounding would be outstanding. Everyone in the starting lineup are above averge rebounders for their position and none of them average less than five boards a game. All in all, I think this team would be extremely competitive right away. And we would be at 60 mil in salaries in case the Maloofs are reading.
