Shot blocking is really not the problem

As Brick said, they won't. from their perspective they need to dump salary to get under the tax. The last thing they would want to pick up is a contract or 2 that runs for 3 or 4 years. It defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do. In that case they are better off keeping Noah and paying the tax. At least they would get a lot more bang for their buck.

Like Brick, I sincerely hope that the moves of last summer do not come back to bite us this time. We are on the hook for some $18-19 million next season only for the players we picked up (Salmons, Hayes and Outlaw) and all 3 look really difficult contracts to move. Just about impossible.

There's two reason I might be hopeful Chi would consider taking Salmons. One, he's the rare player who's contract declines each year. Next year owed less than last, and the final year owed less than any next. Second, Thibs had success with him before and might feel confident in knowing how and where to use him.

Again though, that's being hopeful.

They might consider Salmons only if they trade Deng and really Deng would be very good for us, but I would MUCH rather take Noah of their hands. I would rather pay the big $$ for Noah than Deng who is overpaid and likely to miss the start of next season recovering from surgery.

But if Chicago takes on Salmons' $8 million contracts for next year and the salary for pick 5 (roughly $3.5-4million) they have not actually cut any salary for next year because that is roughly what Noah will be making ($12 million) so there is not a great deal of logic for them to do it since they can't amnesty Salmons once they trade for him.

Bottom line for Chicago is that they want to get rid off one of their hefty contracts and taking on additional long term salary defeats the purpose for them. It means they trade a valuable borderline all-star piece in Noah for surplus to their requirements and a long term project. Surely they can get a lot better from somewhere else. Noah would have a great deal of value around the league. There would not be many teams that would not be interested in him. Portland would be all over that possibility.

They got tired fo Salmons and dumped him already two years ago. Sorry guys, he's ours.

You never know. We got tired of him and dumped him a few years back and look at us now...stuck with an unwanted boomerang with the name salmons on it :( one can always dream their front office is as dumb/delusional as us
