Wizards keep losing, with this loss being a blowout at the hands of the Mavs.

It'd be easier to determine a possible move for the Kings if I could make sense of the Wizards front office. I don't know what they're thinking at this point. It's as though everyone but the Wizards seem to be in panic about how bad the Wizards are.
maybe they are outsmarting themselves and tanking for one of the Duke trifecta?

I think first and foremost the team IMO is going to give a look to Bogdan at SF

Buddy/Bogdan are both starting quality players, our best lineups statistically last year were when both were on the court, both will expect to start long term etc. though I understand the bench would be better with one, hopefully they are playing 30+ and staggered to the point of non big issue. I don’t see the team paying Fox/Buddy/Bagley/WCS(possibly), Bogdan etc and another salary long term

So, I’m not expecting a big SF move before the lengthy trial of whether or not Bogdan with his 7 wing span or core strength Buddy can hang long term.

The team pursued LaVine with the notion one of them can play it, so let’s see it (I’ve wanted it for literally years now).

But, it’s interesting to note Porter might be available. I’m not too keen on Oubre

I see JJ only got 8 min last night against the Raptors. Troy 14 mins, should have been more, but still a step in the right direction.
I recon we are a good SF away from being a really good team, next trade deadline will be interesting.

I'd like to try and call Washington see if we can work something for Porter while eating Mahinmi along the way. Doesn't affect any long-term signing with the core for us and only takes out a majority of our 2019 cap room (which is... who cares). Something like:

Kings get:
Porter
Mahinmi

Wizards get:
$40 mil in cap room for the 2019 season
Shumpert
ZBO
Ben
JJ (or Skal)
3 2nd round picks

Might seem like we aren't giving them the value, but I can very easily their ownership getting fed up with a bottom feeder team that will be OVER the cap with $109 mil committed to 4 guys (Wall, Beal, Porter, Mahinmi) next season. That's with having Dwight with a PO, Rivers, Markieff, Jeff Green a UFA, Oubre and Satoransky a RFA; which makes it a fairly daunting task to have for them to retool with no money. Us freeing them of the Mahinmi and Porter deal gives them the chance to try and make a splash in the 2019 FA class and get a "third star" next to Wall and Beal. The 2nd round picks offer cost controlled contracts they've seemingly ignored the last 5 years that's needed when you have expensive stars and they get a rookie cost controlled young guy in JJ or Skal.

It boils down to how desperate the Wizards get if they keep losing. They might be able to find better value for Porter somewhere (not exactly sure where or what with his contract), but they certainly won't be able to find anyone to take Mahinmi's deal with it. Clearing $40 mil off your books, getting a plethora of 2nd round picks and a cost-controlled young guy should at least get the conversation going if I'm the Wizards.

TLC is getting zero run in OKC and that's with Roberson injured, the guy has some talent would not mind offering something to the Thunder for him including a 2nd round pick.

Another guy who is similar to Porter but slightly older and imo has a higher IQ/more play-making ability who I would also trade for is Nick Batum, both expire at the same time and having seen the impact Bjelica has had on this team getting a more athletic better SF version of Bjelly would not be bad imo. A guy like Batum would help the development of Fox/Bagley as well I would not mind either guy since I have a hard time seeing us signing a better player. Porter due to age and still some untapped potential might be the better route if we go down that path.

The issue there is the Hornets are playing pretty well this season and should be right in the mix of the playoff hunt for one of those bottom 3 playoff seeds. Doubtful they look to sell off Batum when they got a great shot at making the playoffs.

What we're basically hoping for is the Wizards continue to completely combust (like they're 4-16 20 games in or something) and it all of a sudden looks really attractive to start a fire sale.

Man, if we just had a full-size, professional starting SF...we could do some things. I’m so torn between going all in on a guy like Porter and rolling the dice on trying to land one of these premium free agents this summer. I’m just going to put it out there, but this is a fun team to play with and be around, and one of the headliner SFs would coast to 28 ppg with this team’s spacing, pace, gravity, and being the #1 scoring option. Dare I say a guy like KD would walk to 32 ppg, and have a blast doing it. OK, I’ll calm down. I so badly wish Jaylen was an RFA this summer.

And that’s just on the court. One of these FAs could also get the NorCal lifestyle, Silicon Valley connections, a lowkey media presence, and a major brand push as the face of the NBA in India. I hope Vlade and Vivek are politely floating the advantages to various agents and managers throughout the league and definitey not tampering like Magic is constantly doing.

Add the Wizard's first round pick (top 5 protected) and I'd be down with that. I'm assuming that the Wizard's continue a downward trend to Nowheresville.

This season Otto Porter is producing 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. I'd want to "buy" him based on what what he's done lately, and it ain't much. He's getting $100 mill for that? Like I've said before, he's being underutilized, but I don't think we should pay for what we think he could be. We should pay for what he currently is.

I agree - given Porter's current production we shouldn't have to take Mahinmi without getting something else in return. While they basically get all enders in that deal, that wipes out all our enders and any other flexibility and banks on a player currently not earning his contract.

It does seem Washington might overvalue Porter relative to their other big contracts so they are more than likely trying to move Wall or Beal first. Either way they're probably stuck with Mahinmi just like Minny got stuck with Dieng when the dust settled with Butler.

This is horrible deal.

The wizards are in cap hell after matching porters deal.

They won't be able to sign Obrue this off season.

While there is no way the Wizards would do a plain salary dump (and pay us in draft pick for that), I do agree that the current version of Porter doesn't justify such huge investment from us.

How about Allen Crabbe? (I know way overpaid) He's a big SG in a sense but has played SF and fits this team perfectly on the offensive end as a 3 point sniper and excellent without the ball and possess decent speed in the full court. He's currently not lived up to expectations with the Nets and has been beaten out by the surging Joe Harris plus unlike Porter his deal has only this and next year left. Maybe the Nets would want to dump his $17-18 million dollar deal for next season and we could get him for expiring deals and maybe like a Skal/Jackson or 2nd round picks.

Having at all times on the floor 2 of either Bogie/Crabbe/Hield could be pretty lethal with Fox/WCS, I know some people will say play Bogie at SF instead but the difference is Bogie needs the ball to be at his best where as Crabbe does not and will not take away from Fox or Buddy but will be a elite defense breaker with open looks. I think we would improve a ton without disrupting any of the team chemistry.

Fox/Bogie/Mason
Hield/Bogie/Crabbe
Crabbe/Bogie/Hield/Bjelly/Shumpert (if hes not traded)
Bjelly/Bagley/Harry
WCS/Harry

If we traded KK in the deal (to make salary work) I would try get them to give us Big Sauce Alvin Williams as a back up C the man can rebound at a elite level not sure what's up with his contract status had a fairly decent breakout period not to long ago with the Suns.

I’d rather make a deal that sends us Musa as incentive for Crabbe, but make no mistake, Musa is the target. Not Crabbe.

I wouldn't trade shump unless we had a defensive wing defender ready to replace him. I think people are undervaluing his impact on the defensive end.

I believe we should stand pat at sf. We are going to have to pay our young guys soon and I’m not paying a hundred mil for more role players. We are no longer desperate and need to continue to develop our talent. We have a star in the making (Fox), a third level star type (Buddy). Super role players (bogs, and somehow WCS?). Now we need that second star ( Harry or Bagley are the candidates). Then we just need efficient specialists (maybe Williams, Shump or others).

It benefits us to use that space before we have to pay our young core because once that is done we can't add role players so easily. Ideally we can swap some of our enders this year for guys with an extra year or two while leaving enough room to target a starting quality SF if we're unable to get one in trade.

Troy Daniels (not a SF) is buried on the Suns bench he could be really useful in our 2nd unit playing next to Bogie if we play Bogie as the PG or SF, having another sniper to spread the floor would not be a bad move. He could fit in into any unit we have cause of his prolific shooting touch.

I like this move we’re not paying anyone right now and Ottos next contract should be reasonable. He’d be a great fit with our young core as well.

I would rather have Oubre. Fits the Kings timelime better.

Porter would make more sense in the short term. Probably help the Kings to the Playoffs But, I like Oubre more.
