You know, this is REALLY irritating.
NO ONE on this board that I can recall, with one possible exception, has said they're not going to give him a chance. Once the announcement is made official - and it will be - then we Kings fans will, as we always do, give the new guy on the block a clean slate. A chance to prove what he can do in the uniform (or suit, in this case) of the Sacramento Kings.
That doesn't mean people can't voice their objections, their fears, their concerns, their disbelief, etc.
I've seen this franchise through thick and thin, through Garry St. Jean and Bill Russell, through Jerry Reynolds (twice) and through Rick Adelman. That's about as wide a swing of the pendulum as you'll ever see. And I continue to love this team.
But I'm not going to stand there on the sidewalk and applaud the emperor's new clothes just because HE thinks they look great. And I don't think anyone else who is concerned about this should have to, either.
I was one of the most vocal opponents of Peja for Artest trade because of concerns about Ron Artest. Once the trade was done, however, all that became irrelevant. Ron Artest is a Sacramento King and I'm glad of it.
It's not that any of us who are posting our objections are going to boo Whis the first time he steps out as the head coach of the Kings. We will support him and wish sincerely that he is able to get the job done.
So, please...don't act like we're going to go Philadelphia on his arse. That's not the way Kings fans greet their team or their coach.
