Well, this is just ridiculous. Zero NBA experience. Gimmick system. The guy thinks he's going to finish out the season coaching the Monarchs rather than workout draft choices and focus on the Kings. When does Petrie tender his resignation?
Wow, I have tried really hard to defend the Maloofs and pretend that they had a discernable plan, but they really don't know much about the league. I liken this gut-punch feeling I have to the time that Jerry Jones fired Jimmy Johnson so that he could hire Barry Switzer. You see, Jimmy didn't give Jerry enough credit, kind of like Rick. I'm sure ol' Johnny Boy will throw plenty of props the Maloofs way, just like that huckster Switzer. Of course, the Cowboys still had enough talent to eke out another Super Bowl win. I can't imagine that happening here.
On the bright side, Miller will front the post 100% of the time in that "white-line" defense and end up on the recieving end of about 15 alley-oops a game. Poster makers of the NBA, highlight every Kings game on the schedule!

I thought they wanted their next coach to be stylish. He makes Tim Duncan look like a clotheshorse in that picture. Green pants? Mock T? Sportscoat off the rack?
The more I think about this, the more upsetting it is. Not that I care about the Monarchs, but why did they even let him start the season? They knew they were going to tap Coach Whiz. What a giant waste of time. Coach T could have assumed the reins, or Jerry Reynolds. And why announce it now? They couldn't wait until after the playoffs to check out the Suns assistants? They just didn't feel like going through the whole interview process?

The Kings will be ok...
There's a pleuthora of talent on the team, a great finish to the season.
There's a defensive-minded coach with a track record of winning at every level.
There's momentum and change.
The only thing I worry about is what kind of offense will the Kings run without a true point guard...

I wouldn't put much stock in what Wikipedia says, the paragraph has now been changed to "In the early morning hours of May 26, 2006 the Sacramento Kings named him Head Ball Boy. The announcement has been set to be made after the holiday weekend."
But if VF says so, then I'm pretty inclined to believe her.
