Wherever the Kings may be next season, I can save them money with my suggested approach to fielding a team.
Pay Dalembert to stay and Thornton, too. Keep out core -
1 and 2 slots0- Udrih, Thornton and Evans.
4 and 5 slots- Dalembert, Cousins and Thompson.
3 spot- Garcia and Casspi.
That's eight players. For the four remaining active members of the team:
one, a real point guard, quick, defender, tall or Jeter.
two, a shooting guard or Taylor or Head (heaven help us)
three. a pf/c or Jackson.
four, another big or a 3.
All these last four we pick from what we have or find someone who is a veteran backup, in other words, cheap.
With the money left over under the cap keep it in your pocket.
This approach would please me. Keep the coach, Petrie, and any of the existing and move on with this bunch of guys and don't let the money saved burn a hole in your pocket. The money could even be used to help keep the Maloofs happy in PB Arena for a couple years. That way they wouldn't have to sell their soul to Southern California.
I welcome any suggestions on how to fine tune this plan to make even better but still cheap.
