Wow... I guess it's like they say: one man's dramatic comeback is another man's colossal choke job.

Them lies.Blech!! One of the teams won. I still want them both to lose.Gotta give credit to the Lakers for coming back from 20 down to pull out game 1. Being at Staples Center didn't hurt.
Congratulations to the Spurs for the incredible choke job.

Well no. Despite my squawking, I'd be perfectly willing to live and let live about this; it was the use of the term "love of the NBA" that I object to, quite vehemently, in fact. I mean, seriously? You want Lakers/Celtics because of your "love of the NBA?" Seems to suggest to me that you might think that people don't love the NBA enough if they don't want to see it.
No "love of the NBA" = "love of what is best for the NBA" which you yourself admit that ratingwise and accordingly interestwise would be a Lakers/Celtics series. Drums up interest, drums up ratings. Drums up new fans. May not be your cup of tea, but if you like the league, and the league benefits, then thinking Celtics/Lakers would be a good thing on that basis makes perfect sense.
I was watching this game with a buddy of mine and he made a comment that Kobe wasn't showing up in the first half. I said, "Watch, Kobe is going to score 25 in the second half."
I actually feel kinda sick to my stomach for predicting that. Or the fact that I made a beneficial prediction for the Lakers at all.
Blech.

Meh, lakers were expected to win the first home game of the series. The fact that they had to work that hard and come from behind is a problem for them. This maybe Spurs in 6 but I will stick with 7.
Oh yeah, and the lakers suck! Sing it duo with me piksi since THEY are rooting for the lakers.
Don't feel badly. How many long-time Kobe bashers didn't really see this coming? He plays like cow poop in the first half so he, and he alone, can step up and -- TA DA! - lead his team to victory. I'm pretty sure the script-writer was there in Staples somewhere, watching as the Lakers played their parts to perfection.
.
But really, this is just the hilarity of the universe because they finally figured it out against the Lakers. Not in game 6 vs the Hornets, not in game 5 vs the Suns. But in Game 1 vs the Lakers.
Finally, when we could rejoice on a flop not called, a cheat not rewarded, it turns around and makes a Laker win. The universe can go......screw itself![]()
Ah, what we have here is a ref bias conspiracy to help the Spurs beat the Suns and a ref bias conspiracy to help the Spurs beat the Hornets that switches back to a ref bias conspiracy to help the Lakers beat the Spurs after the Lakers got thru receiving a ref bias conspiracy to beat the Jazz. It's a hierarchical thang. Then to add to it, the ref bias conspiracy against the Spurs concedes that they do in fact flop.
Where my boy piksi?
Different strokes for different folks, S£im. Does it have to always be one person right so the other is wrong?
You would like a Spurs/Pistons final. I wouldn't. That doesn't make either of us right or wrong. It's like arguing with someone whose favorite ice cream flavor is butter brickle when yours is pistachio...and thinking there can only be one correct favorite flavor.

What's best for the NBA is somewhat subjective.
And I'm still waiting to hear it from Ryan's "lips," since he's the one who said it.
This doesn't answer my question: why can't Spurs/Celtics be a great rivalry? Or Spurs/Pistons? Or, for that matter, Lakers/Pistons?What's best for the NBA is a great rivalry and great ratings.
congrats, laker fan. it was no official win or loss. it was a laker win and a spurs loss.Ah, what we have here is a ref bias conspiracy to help the Spurs beat the Suns and a ref bias conspiracy to help the Spurs beat the Hornets that switches back to a ref bias conspiracy to help the Lakers beat the Spurs after the Lakers got thru receiving a ref bias conspiracy to beat the Jazz. Who says they can't? The fact, and the obvious point, is they aren't.This doesn't answer my question: why can't Spurs/Celtics be a great rivalry? Or Spurs/Pistons? Or, for that matter, Lakers/Pistons?
