SAR value

Why? I'm one of the few who apparently thinks bringing in Moore as an interim player while our kids develop isn't that bad a thing, especially if we're able to dump SAR and/or KT along the way.

Speaking for myself, I'm not down on Miki as an individual basketball player. He's got some athleticism, he hits open jumpers, and by all accounts he's got great character. He is a great guy to have if you have a bunch of youngins that you are trying to develop. But we don't have a bunch of athletic youngins, so that's why picking him up didn't enamor me. If Petrie dumps the mediocre vets, I'm "all aboard" with Miki. It's all about context with Miki Moore.

i was a little excited when he joined the team. wasnt the best move, but as expected he became our best low post scorer. he's just a taller corliss. still unathletic as Al Bundy.

I hope that Mikki Moore, Williams, Hawes, B Miller get all the minutes at the 4 and the 5. I would just let KT rot and feel what it's like to grab some bench for the rest of his existing contract. Maybe he gets tired of sitting and opts out when his option comes up. Its not like he's going to improve his trade value any time soon so the King's let him rot on the bench. When he becomes a cancer or a disruptive presence (won't take long), the Kings can tell him to stay away.

I'm hoping that is the reason for signing Mikki Moore.

Signing John Salmons did NOT make Cisco and Douby better players. Rather he stole their minutes and stunted their development. A year later we still don't know what we have there.

Signing Mikki Moore will NOT make Hawes and Justin better players, for the same reasons.

In order to become better players kids need minutes. Consistent rotation minutes. And as of right now there are zero. I mean really zero. By signing Mikki we basically replaced Corliss. And we have the entire frontcourt crew back again: Miller, SAR, Kenny and now Mikki/Corliss. And last year with that siutuation Justin was totally screwed until we started shutting the vets down at the end of the year. And now we've added Hawes as well -- our two kids are behind FOUR big contract vets. Sans Mikki, ONE of the kids might have gotten some minutes by basically replacing Corliss. With Mikki? Unless Geoff does something, and fast, we are looking at garbage time. And that just doesn't make you a whole hell of a lot better. You gotta play. Not start. But 15-20min a night, every night, at least.

Once we drafted Hawes, the best case scenario was we manage to trade away one of our remaining three old vets (Brad, Kenny, SAR) and then there could be major minutes for one kid, and minor minutes for the other. Instead we went the other way, instead of losing a vet, we GAINED one. And now you've got a mess. If we can somehow magically trade TWO of our vets now before the beginning of the season, leaving maybe Brad as vet #1 and Mikki as vet #2, then Spenser and Justin both get an oppportunity, and its all ok. But there hasn't even been a rumbling of that happening.

Nope. John Salmons didn't steal the minutes. Eric Musselman didn't utilize his players properly.

I still believe Mikki was/is a good pickup. And I still realize we're not going to see eye-to-eye on this. And I still believe Moore is going to take minutes away from SAR and KT, not the kids.

:)

Whos this Watkins dude that some ppl keep talking about him like he'll be in our team for the upcoming season and I never saw any news about his signing and can't see him in our roster (nba.com/kings/roster)...

A rookie who worked on his jump shooting this summer. His bio:

NBA Draft: Darryl Watkins
College: Syracuse
Class: Senior
Stats: ESPN.com

Position: C
Height: 6”11”
Weight: 258lbs

Scouting Report: A big time defender and shotblocker.

Strengths: Shotblocking – Watkins should finish his career with over 250 swats. Good NBA size. Good offensive rebounder – gets about 3 per game. When he does get a chance to shoot he shoots for a high percentage. Plays for a program known for producing NBA talent.

Weaknesses: Had no real offensive game away from basket. But worked on and showed a good mid-range and turn-around jumper in the Vegas Summer League.

Note: The Kings signed Watkins to a partially guaranteed contract for this year. So he will be at training camp and likely on opening roster tho' he may go to D-League for some playing time.
