Sacramento City Council has votes for arena if reachable criteria is met

I just read the article by Ryan Lillis. Is he full of crap, or is this a real possibility?

Since the vote was lost to put it to a public vote they want to see what the final financing plan looks like. The only way to do that is vote yes tonight to proceed. It may well be 9-0 or 8-1 (sheedy).

Also, If you tune in to watch, she's the one that looks like she's about to beat cute babies to death.

yeah she looks like a psychotic axe murderer IMO. I don't like her, she's real condescending and in discussions about financial stuff she seems unable to keep up mentally.

I'm surprised that Sheedy and Fong voted in favor today.

I think they've finally been feeling the heat of an organized, spirited, never say die community. They knew this was going to pass easily. Only question was, unanaimous, or just one or two votes against. Hopefully, these two wobbly naysayers will stay onboard for critical Feb. 28 city council vote. Then the ball will be in the court of the other players (AIG, NBA, Maloofs, etc.) to do the same - get on board with their financial commitments.

Today was really just a procedural vote. Even if they want to vote against funding an arena, there's really no point to voting against paring the list of parking applications from 13 to 11 (was going to be 10, but one that had been recommended to be cut by city staff was reinstated due to local ties).

I think a few weeks ago we were under the impression that tonight would be the RFP. It wasn't, but we showed up to support the arena anyway. I was glad to see that sentiment in the room was very strongly in favor of the arena.

Agreed, and Sheedy repeated that - tonight was not voting FOR the arena deal, just to trim the number of groups they will be talking to about the potential parking lease.
