And how many times does a franchise do that? Honestly, and they just got to top 4 THIS year and were never in the top 4 those last few years with Stockton/Malone either. So In actuality is was more like 6-7 years from the time they were at the top(like the Kings were in '02) to the time they got back to a top 4 position in the West.
OK. So now it's 6 years since the Kings last "top of the league" in 2002. And while RonRon is not "the core" of a rebuild he is a valuable piece and brings unique defensive abilities to the Kings.
Of course the Knicks want RonRon and their media can dream all they want. That's what your seeing in the press. Ain't gonna happen 'cause the Knicks don't have anything the Kings want much less need. Forget Lee.
We'll see that RonRon doesn't opt out the end of the month and is one of the core players this year. With Beno in the fold and a good draft and summer league, no reason the Kings shouldn't win close to 50 games this year. If RonRon buys into the team concept and plays in the team concept, the Kings will do well.
The Spurs, Suns and Mavs are on the down slopes while the Hornets appear to be the new power on the block, with the Jazz and Lakers again at their tops. Houston, the Warriors and Denver are again big question marks with the Blazers on their way up. So there is a hole in the front line for the Kings to pop through into the secondary, the upper echelon of the western conference. And RonRon can be a big piece to get us there.
