Ron Artest

#7
I was slow to warm to Doug Christe and the guy won me over in due time w/ his tenacity. It feels like the same and more w/ Ron Artest. The guy grows on you because of how FIERCELY competitive he is. And it IS contagious. He's got this whole organization turned around.

I loved what got said in the post game. He was pissed that Kobe got those garbage points to end the game. Even after the game was won he was still pissed that he handn't completely shut Kobe down. That is something that commands my respect.

More than that right after the game he goes into the tunnel and high fives every King going back into the locker room. Never in my wildest imagination did i think the Kings could land one player that could effectively torch the whole club.

Kings not only needed someone to fit in, they needed this kind of leadership.

Things are definitely lookin up in Sacramento.

They said that Ron was the first one off the floor, but not the first into the locker room. He stopped in the tunnel to give each of the players a five slap.

What a leader!! :D

LOL....Nazman beat me to it!! Great minds think alike!

Love this TEAM!!! Let's not overlook the rest of the team. Ron Artest can't do it by himself. He may inspire everyone, but he can't do it all by himself. Everyone played great. Except for the dum turnovers.

Artest is what we needed a long time ago(on court play, leadership). I still have my doubts about his mental stability but his play has won me over. But that fear still lingers, a part of me(getting smaller and smaller ever day) still worries what will happen when Artest start to face adversity.

It'll take a long time for that little niggling fear of implosion to leave me. Kind of like holding my breathe. But I want Ron to succeed and my Kings to succeed. For now, I'll rejoice in this rejuvenation of the team I love.

Is VF at the game? And she didn't take us all! I am mad now!
I said elsewhere that I'm wondering if she is totally snowed in with over a foot in the last 24 hours. And lots of areas up there are having power outtages. Its possible she missed this game totally!

u know....i remember a time a couple of months ago when i was absolutely pulverized by some on here, where ron artest was concerned....some of the same people that are now praising him and lauding their love for him were blasting both him and my obvious stupidity for liking the player so much....

im not into "i told u so".....in fact quite the opposite....i just love the fact that ron is in a situation where he is truly given the support and opportunity to show all that hes capable of and is having such a dramatic impact on a team...and as ive said before, there probably wasnt a more deserving fan base....

and tonite was a basketball nirvana....seeing ron play that kind of game-to me-is as good as it gets on the basketball court...simply a dominant impact on both ends...and then to see all the kings fans-especially those that spoke so disparagingly about ron-express such appreciation for his game....well it simply doesnt get any better than that....

and who knows....brick might even give him a B+ for tonites effort...;)

as for all those critics and naysayers from a couple months ago...i have only one thing to say:

"any questions????"

Taz, I'll be the first to admit that I had STRONG doubts about Artest. Many of us did. However, you must admit that since the first time he took the floor in a King's jersey, he has been welcomed with open arms!!! I am VERY glad to say that I was WRONG!!! My like for him is quickly turning to love!!

we never questioned his skills. However we were questioning his "mental fitness" I still do. There is still a chance down the road of something happening. So far everything is great and I hope - it stays that way for a long time. However, we have to be prepared for anything at any time.

LOL...I work near Stabler and Butte House. A ton of hail fell on us this afternoon. My truck had a thick layer of ice on it. Did you get that too?

Every true Kings fan should have a battery-powered radio preset to 1140 and extra batteries in case of power outages. I do. ;)

I too had very strong doubts about Ron, too, Taz. It was never personal and once the deal was done, I gave Ron a clean slate. I want him to succeed, because I love the Kings and want them to win and somedat get that ring. So far it is working brilliantly and we have seen nothing but the best of Ron. I sincerely hope that is all we ever see. But as I said above, I may hold my breathe for a long time.

EDIT: Forgot to add that I always knew he was a great player and have always loved watching his intensity and determination.
