Rock Band Draft - Round 6 (Wrap Up)

!@#%1%!#$!%@3451@#$%!@351

Right after I posted my waste of a pick I literally shouted "NEIL PEART! What are you thinking!"

Crud Im destined for a first round oust.

Roger Waters is no waste of a pick. He is one of my most favorite musicians and I had him high on my list of bassists.

I'm probably gonna regret taking this next one early, because I'm not sure how many AC/DC fans are here. But I just loved this guy, plus it doesn't hurt that he plays an additional instrument. So to start round 3, I take:

Bon Scott - Lead Vocals / Bagpipes (From AC/DC Up Until Back In Black)

There was a reason I took It's A Long Way To The Top with my first pick in the Ipod draft, and he was it. I thought he was an excellent singer, and certainly great at making bagpipes fit in perfectly with a rock song.

Maybe I was being a *bit* extreme.

Just the thought of drafting Peart first then hoping for Waters to fall to me in round three made me all happy inside.

Hence making me mad as my thoughts didn't come to fruition.

And sorry SacKings7 all AC/DC Bon Scott and post Bon Scott list as my most hated rock band of all time.
Those vocals make me cringe like hearing nails on a chalkboard.

You are entitled to your opinion. Everyone has different tastes. Just for the record, my most hated rock band of all time? Pink Floyd

I already kind of regret my decision to take Bon this early though. I'm definitely missing out on my current #1 Bassist. I might be able to snag my drummer though

The other guy (name omitted) sounds like nails on a chalkboard, Bon Scott was great.

WOW you are the first I met that thought of AC/DC that way

Yeah it is bad karma to diss AC/DC. "Back in Black" is the soundtrack of my high school years.

If not for AC/DC, there would be no Hells Bells to play when Trevor Hoffman comes in to notch a save, or the last nine seconds of a Kings/Lakers game...

Come on man... a little love for the boys down under!

I will have people note who was the singer on Back in Black, and Hells Bells, and... :p

Which actually isn't hatred of Bon Scott -- they were certainly a great band with him at the lead. But they pumped out just as many classics with "the other guy".

Back in Black is the one good album they made with the other guy. And yes its not just good, its great, some of their best work. But after that they got stuck in a rut, all their songs started to sound like they were just chasing whatever magic they captured on that album. Bon was one of their key song writers and their music suffered infinitely with his loss.

Both singers were very good...I think Back in Black is a major classic studio album, but the band's VERY BEST album was "If You Want Blood" live, with Bon.

Doesn't have to be an either/or thing.

It's hard to say how popular they'd be today if Bon were still alive. I'd bet that they'd be a better band. The downside, of course, is that Back In Black probably wouldn't exist. And yeah, I love the "If You Want Blood" album as well

Wow' what's taking all day here people...I'm nervous enough about my next pick without having to endure the stress for 6 more days...Lets try to pick up the pace a bit.

"I've always liked drums to be big and powerful. I've never been into using cymbals overmuch. I use them to crash into a solo and out of it, but basically I prefer the actual drum sound. To me drums sound better than cymbals."

"It's all very well to be playing a triple paradiddle--but who's going to know you're actually doing it? If you pay too much attention to technique, you start to sound like every other drummer does. I think that being original is what counts."

"It wasn't so much what you could play with your hands--you got a lovely little tone out of the drums that you couldn't get with sticks. I thought it would be a good thing to do so I've been doing it ever since. You really get an absolutely true drum sound because there's no wood involved. It hurts your hands at first, but then the skin hardens. I think I can hit a drum harder with my hands than with sticks."

stay tuned...

I had a good jokey response to that post, but decided against it in the off chance I'd be spilling the beans on a kooky (and, frankly, awesome) pick.

just a little hint, just a little hint is all as the thread momentum is drying up.

not an offbeat pick really... lol no pun intended. seriously my pick will be conventional and expected. I channeled Keith since my whole band will answer to him, and he said "don't overthink it man... don't look the gift horse in the mouth. Take the drummer".

just completing the British megaband trifecta and filling in my backcourt as it were... but you know... I'm going to wait my turn as apparently tradepeja is being paid by the hour here.

btw, I know who the drummer is, francisco. Not on my list of drummers (maybe for obvious reasons now? ;)) but certainly a great one

Yeah, I guessed it too. Great drummer, actually he's my alternate pick, so grab him while you still can Francis.;)

So much unrest! I'm sorry everyone, not used to being this close to the top of the draft. I'm normally middle-fodder. I was on really late last night waiting for Sac's second pick but I doubt I would have even made it then because I only made up my mind right this second.

This is either a terrible choice, or a brilliant one. I still can't decide myself. I had my 4 lead singers still left here that I had been contemplating from the beginning with a few others on the fringe I put some thought into as well. Ack, this is still killing me.

Thom Yorke - Lead Vocals / Rhythm guitar / Electronics / Piano & Keyboard (from Radiohead)

I'm still wondering if he'll work in my band. One things for sure he is the perfect rhythm guitarist for it, and one of the best around and truly specializes at that vein of guitarwork (just check the video below). Yorke's ability to make his voice match anything from hard rock, to alt rock, to electronica, to the softest of the soft through all of Radiohead's transformations in astounding though. He has huge vocal range and although he can hit every note in the falsetto range he still has an excellent scream. Rarely do you find that. Hell, he even raps a few lines in some songs in Hail to the Theif.

Can I remove him from piano/kb if I get the pick later that I want on piano? If I can't, just don't put him down as piano then.

Something of a nobrainer here as far as Keith and Paul are concerned... We promise to provide a HUGE wall of rock sound with Paul, Keith, and without further ado:

John Bonham - drums (Led Zeppelin)

I honestly had solidly penciled in SEVEN different people for this critical third pick - it's crazy on that draft board. But 26 picks from now, with our rhythm section well established and having a few rehearsals under our belt, we shall audition candidates to front our godlike band. I'lm pretty sure whoever we call will pick up the phone and want to join this band. We've got ideas... and patience.

Was wondering when he was going to go. Was all set to scuttle my own third poick if people mysteriously continues to ignore him. Maybe for the best however -- lets me stick wiht my sneaky drummer pick instead.

P.S. However...wall of sound? With Paul McCartney? :p
