Rick Adelman's reaction to the trade

Rick Adelman sat down with Kings.com on Monday to talk about the Kings trade with the Orlando Magic in which Sacramento acquired Cuttino Mobley and Michael Bradley for Doug Christie: Here's what he had to say

“It’s a tough, tough day for me because Doug has been a big part of our success since he’s been here. It is going to leave a big void but sometimes you have to make deals to try and help the team. It came unexpected and I wish him well.”

“Cuttino gives us a lot of offense. He’s a great shooter, he can break defenses down, and he gives us something we don’t have on our team. Hopefully he’s able to fit into our system and we’ll be able to do things for him with the other players that we have that will help him

I've yet to hear what Christie had to say about this trade, but here's what Mobley said:

``They play like they enjoy playing the game,'' Mobley said of the Kings. ``They look like a fun team. That's what basketball is about, having fun.''

Cuttino better not play on the Kings just to have fun. Hopefully, he can help the Kings win a championship! :D

Does Rick not knowing about the trade look as bad to anyone else as it does to me???? I thought that he and Petrie always talked about these kind of things.

George Karl mentioned that it was a great trade for the Sacramento Kings.

Who cares what he thinks? What do the other Kings players think of the deal?

Emotionally, the is much like the Funderburke and Divac trades. For the team, I think it is a more important trade than even the Vlade trade.

I have a bad feeling here.

What will Doug say?

He will say something like, "The NBA is a business. I've really liked my time with the Sacramento Kings and living in Sacramento and I'm going to miss it. I hope I can bring something to Orlando that helps them and I'm just glad to still be able to play the game."

The rest of the Kings will say comlimentary things about Doug. They'll talk about how great it was to play with him and they'll wish him well in Orlando, except when they're playing Sacramento.

They'll talk about how they're looking forward to playing with Mobley.

What else would they say?

mobley is a pretty athletic player... his got hops... and his a deadly outside shooter... just worried about the chemistry....

If you're worried about the team chemistry, then you do a disservice to the whole team IMHO.

As far as what Adelman meant by Mobley bringing something to the team we don't currently have, I think it could well be someone who opponents will NOT leave wide-open in order to double up on Pedja. Pedja's game may have just stepped up a notch because he'll be getting more open looks.

Maybe more open looks, but not more looks.

Peja's play will definitely suffer from this trade. Mobley is not someone who makes his teammates better.

I am sure you're right but Webb has been very vocal lately. If he doesn't like it, he may say something. Possibly in Peja's direction.

look who mobley played with! steve francis! he blows i know mobley will become a passer because everyone that comes to the kings learns how to pass.

WTF would he say in Peja's direction about a Christie-Mobley trade ?

Possibly that Doug was a hard worker, blah, blah, blay. Something similar to the end of the year rant last season. That maybe they should have traded someone else first.

LOL!

You REALLY don't mean that, do you????

Webber is a professional player in the NBA who has gone through a couple of trades himself. He is NOT going to say anything about this trade, other than he's enjoyed playing with Doug, and he's looking forward to seeing what Mobley can bring to the Kings.

And you can take that to the bank.

OMG. Welcome to the land of "I don't have a clue."

Geez.

Okay, clarify this for me: Pedja won't get more looks, but he'll get more OPEN LOOKS and that's a bad thing????????

"For the team, I think it is a more important trade than even the Vlade trade."
It seems that people still have the idea that we traded Vlade.

Well if you think everything is hunky dory in La La Land you are in the land of "I don't have a clue."

1. La La Land is Los Angeles.
2. If you really truly think that Chris Webber will say anything remotely resembling "Doug shouldn't have been traded. Pedja should have" then you are, regretfully, clueless.

But time will tell, won't it? I'm perfectly willing to make an open bet that Webber will NOT say anything like that. Are you equallly willing to bet that he will?
