Rick Adelman wake up..

#1
I just have one question to ask Adelman. How would you improve your rebounding and defense?

hmmm....we have a guy by the name of Brian Skinner and another who we are paying near a million a year to watch courtside Kings games....i mean Jamal Sampson..

both can play the PF and C positions, but both never take off their pre-game suits...

same goes with the Big Nasty...

Rick Adelmans back-up center is...um...shareef?
From what I have been seeing is that Miller comes off and Kenny Thomas comes in for him...with shareef playing the 5, while k-9 plays the 4 off the bench....

ey Rick, wake-up call ..9 today, coincidentally our 9th loss
how about you play Skinner or Sampson off the bench, so we can stop making the other team believe they are in lay-up drills...and have maybe both skinner and sampson in there to block some ****in shots??

play Peja less, big nasty more
get some toughness in there...let them hustle in the paint and play rough with the other team...
and for God's sake act like a coach

one more thing Rick, if after 25-30 game we are still under .500....say your goodbyes to all your fellow players because they are playing more like a team with less turnovers meaning the blame is gonna be shifting onto your ***
sankyu and goodluck..

Adelman is so dumb he watches the couch and sits on the tv

JK

But the job he's been doin... eh... I dunno

He can say play D and rebound and scream at them and plan d rotations and they still refuse. He should move SAR to the bench and play skinner. That's why we did well when Brad went out last year and skinner started. We had enough offense anyways, and he was good on D.

I don't see why Skinner/Corliss/Sampson can't play if Brad or SAR are in there.

It just boggles the mind. Especially with Corliss/Skinner's contracts.

just start the regular 5...

bibby, bonzi, peja, sar, and miller

have hart, garcia, big nasty, k-9, and skinner come off the bench

then if we still cant play d, put in sampson

i mean we have a 6-11 shot blocker that we dont use sitting on our bench

its ridiculous

Im so sick of Adleman. It's obvious he is doing something wrong. I am not going to blame this on the players because night in and night out he is not using people that would benefit us. He is not a defensive minded coach as we can all tell, and lately he has not even been a good coach. Fire Adleman, and get rid of Peja, and maybe Bibby.

I've been an Adelman supporter over the years but let's all wake up..... the players are obviously not listening to the man and that is not Rick's fault. He's done a marvelous job up until this point, but I'm sad to say, the players need a new voice in the locker room, someone who can light a fire under them.

I tend to agree.

Adleman: Durr by uh shooting better durr

Seriously, every King fan should know Adleman is a horrible defensive coach and his tired old excuse of "we don't have the players to be good on defense" flies out the window when you look at how former Kings have gone on to play on defensively sound and good teams. Most of Detroit's players were not known for defense besides Ben Wallace, but they were formed into an outstanding defensive squad. He just doesn't know how to teach a defensive philosophy, the Kings hardly ever had one except for maybe parts of one season. The Kings are reactionary on defense and you'll never be good if that's how you play defense. You must have a philosophy and a will to enforce that defensive play on the other team.

Adleman's philosophy relies completely on outshooting the other team. Even the Kings PR people know this(listen to Grant Napear's nugget of wisdom 'its a matter of making shots!'). Unfortunately, in the NBA even the greatest shooters can't hit every shot.

You mean other than Sheed. And Prince. And...

Rip is it. As mentioned Peja/Bibby performed better for us once upon a time too, when we surrounded them with defenive minded players.

Now however we have surrounded them with other passive softies, and abruptly a critical mass is reached where the whole team becomes passive and soft and out tougher players are pulled down into the morass, rather than it working the other way around.

Huh???

Rick sucks. Did you saw last night game vs Miami? No one defended J-will, he was always left alone in the 3pt line, Wade penetrated easily and rebonded his own misses, Haslem was easily scoring in the face of miller and Sar with his hooks, while They stood still . On the other side, Zo killed Sar and Miller blocking all their shots, J-Will assesinated Wells with his three pointers. All this While Rick was sitting on his chair kissing with the maloofs.
THIS IS CRAZY. He must be fired. he is not doing his job and he is still hired. Sometings must be wrong.

I don't know about that last comment. But on J-Will, he didn't do much of anything scoring-wise in the 2nd half.

Wade was Wade - aka great. Zo was Zo - aka a beast.

Interestingly I did not note Rick on the court being an idiot trying to guard JWill, unless you're implying it was our plan to leave him open? Nor did I see rick down in the post defeneding, although I daresay he might have been able to do a better job.

This I will say, I have been a borderline Coach supporter.
There are things I like about him and things I don't
But because of the nature of this post I will just point out the things I don't like!
1. Rick DOES NOT know when to call a timeout! He will wait until his tema is down by deep double figures until he calls one.
2. His rotation SUCKS! We have 2 defensive minded bench players in Skinner and Corliss who are willing to play D and corliss can fill up a stat sheet on the offensive end also.
3. He thinks the only way to win is play offense. I agree that you must play offense and must score more points than the other team, but you also need to be able to come up with a rebound or defensive stop also.
4. He is afraid to make his star players unhappy. see webber, peja, bibby. when they are not producing or are getting abused he would stick with them rather than go with someone who can produce for a short stint.
5. His rotation is 100% predicatble. He always leaves his starters in the entire 1st and 3rd quarter

I think the talent level is there, and the one thing I see with the bench is the lack of desciveness in playing. it is alm ost as if they are trying to play for the coach and not get pulled, instead of jsut playing.

I think we shoud just give RA a lifetime appointment. There is no one out there we could ever replace him with.

I would say are treatment of th pick n roll is muc better than last year. By switchin it most times it works out well and our bigs usually re able to recover and get back well. Really whats killin the Kings is rebounding. I don't think corliss could help in that regard, but definetly skinner and sampson. Why those guys don't get playing time is anyone's guess. Peja shoulda been pulled in this game vs. the Heat for garcia who looked good attacking the basket and being long on defense.

Isn't there already an official fire adelman thread? Anyways, his rotations suck, no one seems to listen to him anymore, he can't spell the word defense, don't let the door hit you and some unnamed players on the way out.

adelman is only part of the problem. our bench sucks and our starting five is lacking a leader and/or superstar. i think petrie has lost a step. over the last three years or so he has made some really stupid moves.

how does our bench suck exactly??

by playing kevin martin who gives us 18 pts and then 4 straight scoreless games?

our bench is basically hart, garcia, martin, k-9

play PEJA LESS, CORLISS MORE
INSTEAD OF PUTTING K-9 AT 4 AND SHAREEF AT 5.....TAKE OUT SHAREEF AND MILLER AND PUT IN K-9 AND SKINNER

for God's sake lets just try that damn lineup

but, you know who wouldnt be scared to substitute stars for bench warmers?
Jerry Sloan
...to bad hes taken :(

and there's the answer to your question!!
exactly...

im saying the bench adelman plays is 4 guys (3 guards, 1 forward)

i mean if we would have played corliss, skinner, sampson more our bench would have never looked like trash

skinner has been getting minutes and has been ineffective. and although i would like to see corliss play more i do not think him or sampson for that matter are the answers to our bench woes!!

nice post diehard jim, however i may have to disagree on a few things. skinner and corliss are defensive minded players, but their not good defensive players. we struggle terribly if brad and mike bibby aren't playing well. some of the other guys have to be traded. immediately. i will say that bonzi has been the most consistant and i would love for him to stay, but we really need to clear some space on the bench and bring in new faces. if it were up to me, i would deal half the squad to get kevin garnett. we'd probably win more games with just bibby, kg and bonzi playing 3 on 5.

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/brian_skinner/index.html - says it all.

Why Rick can't play Skinner/Sampson/Corliss in there (not all 3, one) with Brad or SAR....

Also, read the Bee article about "playing time is premium".

I still say we should sign a free-agent swingman who'd provide a spark. It'd sure help and improve it. I'll never change my mind on that until the bench becomes consistent, or we do sign someone.

I'm ready to lose Adelman. I'm ready to see half the roster traded. I want a complete reversal in style. Give me a grind it out offense with stingy defenders. I want athleticism. I want thugs. I want to see nothing associated with softness ever again and that includes the coach. Petrie needs to change his philosophy as well. I doubt he'll get fired so he needs to target a completely different breed of player.
