Depends on your definition of thugs... ;)

But if you want to argue that way, no problem...

I'll revise:

Two words.

I'm ready to lose Adelman. I'm ready to see half the roster traded. I want a complete reversal in style. Give me a grind it out offense with stingy defenders. I want athleticism. I want thugs. I want to see nothing associated with softness ever again and that includes the coach. Petrie needs to change his philosophy as well. I doubt he'll get fired so he needs to target a completely different breed of player.
Exactly , couldn't agree with you more.

Gonna have to agree with those who lay most f this at Petrie's feet. Did Bonzi all of a sudden lose his defensive capabilities when he came on the team? Jimmy Jackson, Scott Pollard etal.?? Rick plays defensive minded players just fine. However, he also knows that if he stacks the court with the team's better defenders, we won't have enough offense to win most games. Mainly because our "better" defenders still aren't All-Star material.

I guess we are just finding out how important Webb, Vlade, and Dougie were to our defense. Along with numerouse others. How to fix it? Well, any good manager knows that you have to find what a person does well, and make every effort to put them in a position to succeed. If you need something done that your currrent group can't do well, gotta bring someone in.

Petrie did try to bring a big defensive body in to guard the lane. Did not work out. Ostertag showed why his number is "00"; as in his desire to be able to get up and down the court for every play. Also, he has so little offensive capability that the bigs from other teams could shy off him unless he was right under the basket. Weak passer too.

Brad needs to play PF and we need a big strong 7 footer with decent hands and good sense to play the 5. Not great, but good. So far, Sampson isn't it.

I think Bonzi is exceeding expectations. Toss in a consistent and attentive Kevin Martin / Cisco, along with a decent big, and we would be doing pretty good. Then again, we would still have Brad, Peja and Mike on the floor at times. OK, one of them has to go, and given the quality of sf in the nba today, I would have to say it's Peja that would be packing his bags.

The Kings are dead! Long live the Kings!!

Sweet... I'd love him off the bench!

Have Jamal at C, Skinner at PF, Swift at SF during times - blocks wild ;)
and they would all see about 10 minutes of playing time combined..... ;)

Here's our roster:

Bibby, Hart, Price
Wells, Martin
Peja, Garcia, Corliss
SAR, KT
Miller, Skinner

Those are our 12 active players. Jamal Sampson is our 13th player - he's on the inactive list. Someone would have to go to the IL to activate Sampson. At this point, apparently, the Kings coaching staff hasn't considered that the best option. And, seeing how they haven't even looked in Brian's direction lately, I can't see them bringing Jamal in to sit in uniform. He looks pretty dapper in that suit.

I don't think he is activated, wacthing the kings games his not in the team uniform but in actual casual clothes, but i think he should be activated just to see how he goes and ronnie price should be put on the bench.

what do we have to lose? give sampson a few minutes to see if he is effective or not and only activate price if one of our pg's go down injured.

only reason why i don't see sampson on our active roster is mabye he has minimum practice compared to those on the active roster? mabye he needs more time to see how the system work? the 5 on 5 in practice matchups i presume dont include him in any of the two starting lineups there? (which i think i saw on an article during the pre-season)

newayz i hope this kid gets a chance...

Has this thread really deterorated to the point that people are actually seriously descussing the DETAILS arround activating Sampson to be the teams savior?

I think that's quite an exaggeration, Celt. I think people want to see some added size, athleticism to the team. Which Jamal does bring. Just to show what he did with Charlotte, look at some on the bottom post: http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7075&page=18&highlight=Jamal+Sampson

Disappointing utilization. Ditto Skinner.

I can only assume it's because they didn't get to see the pre-season games where Sampson actually did step on the court and do... well, pretty much nothing.

Haha, seriously. I mean, if Kings fans are resting their hopes and dreams on Jamal Sampson things are verging on suicidal.

Because he barely played. He played 17 minutes total.

Same thing happened last year. Everyone was screaming for TAG to be playing major minutes. Just the name of the game for Kingsfans I guess.

Sampson is not going to make a difference. However with that said since we are not getting it done now let everyone play and lets see what some of these guys have.

Except, Ostertag was out of shape the whole summer and season, along with being in Adelman's dog-house because of it. ;)

Sampson would surely help out with what he brings, but I don't think he'd be a huge difference.

Surely help as in he'd produce and add something to the team. Then I said I don't think he'd be a huge difference to these people who (though I don't know who) are taking him as some kind of savior or something.

That's the misconception. Sampson, who played limited minutes in pre-season, pretty much brought NOTHING.
He played 17 minutes total on the pre-season.

I'm going by his time with the Bobcats. It doesn't matter if the team was "bad" or an expansion team, the guy put up the nice numbers in limited minutes (I also saw some of it). Then was let go because of an injury and something that he didn't do off the court (was still going on).

Sampson's played 19 minutes total with the Kings, pre-season and regular season, the 2 minutes coming at the end of the road Denver loss in garbage time.
