Richard Jefferson, anyone? If the price is right?

Looks like the Richard Jefferson expiriment in San Antonio is going down in flames... looked great on paper, but that is how it goes. So Should the Kings trade for him? He has one year left on his high $$ deal, they would be stuck with him for a while but have a really nice, large expiring for next season and a player that can actually contribute. I do not think he is worth much from the Kings perspective other than a potential way to shorten a couple contracts.

Here are some scenarios:

Beno + Nocioni for RJeff (Shaves off two years of the same amount of $$)

K9 + Beno for RJeff (Not sure this makes sense... the trade off would be the Spurs would take on Beno's "deal" and get some early cap relief)

Of course, picks or rookies (George Hill and Blair come to mind) could be used to level the trade...

Thinking more about this, the Spurs are designed to "Win Now", not later,
so maybe consider:

These deals would help the Spurs win now and the Kings win later in the form of an expiring deal, a big deal that expires next season, and a young prospect.

George Hill would be great next to Tyreke I think... Noci would fit in well with their team I think...

I've been thinking about this for some time now.

I think the mutually beneficial trade for both parties is likely the simplest.

Nocioni+Thomas for RJ.

This gets the Spurs a player to stretch the D and play D. I think Noc is a seemless fit. It also saves them money and makes them players in FA this summer. A total savings of 9 million dollars.

For the Kings, it makes them 2011 players in FA, gives them another excellent scorer, but most importantly we now have a huge trading chip during the 2011 season. We have plenty of cheap, young assets to combine with RJ for a blockbuster type deal next year.

I really like it for both sides as I view Noc as the PERFECT 3 for San Antonio.

I agree he is old and does not fit into the Kings future, but how does Nocioni fit in? This would give the Kings a big expiring contract right when they need it.

Not sure how viable any of the opportunities at the top are, but perhaps Martin for the draft rights to Tiago Splitter is the way we trade him for the young defensive minded big. He's a 25 year old 6'11" athletic two-way post who's arguably the best center in Europe (according to reports).

I kind of doubt it since the Spurs value that type of prospect as much or more than anyone and he could be one of their cornerstones for the future...but maybe they play their hand harder this year.

Jefferson would flat out be in the way. And nearly unmoveable in the way. Whatever else we do or do not trade for, it should not be anyone who plays SF.
