Rebounding

Don't take me so dr seaiouly VF21 ;)
So you mean "offer" to trade him if he gets his boards up to about 6 per game, and then - at the end of the year - say something like, "What? What offer? I don't recall any offer. It must be a language thing."???

;)

Peja is 6-10 and is averaging 4.7 rebounds per 48 mins ?

That has got to be some kind of record, Guinness style.
6-10 and only averaging 4.7 rebounds a game....BRILLIANT!!

Oh, wait, not THAT kind fo Guinness.

Hey now! I posted those reb% stats last week! Thief!! :p
Hey buddy, I posted them last year before the playoffs! In fact, I've got an Excel spreadsheet all set up so I just have to plug a few numbers in and it automatically calculates Rebound %, Offensive and Defensive FG%, etc. So don't even try to out-geek me!

Not even, that's 4.7 every 48 minutes. He's averaging 3.9 a game...thats less than our 6'1" point guard...I guess I could be positive and say go Mike!!

Definition of Rebounding-One who gets involved with a new person after a breakup in order to avoid dealing with the pain, loneliness, and confusion caused by the breakup.

Well at least that's what I usually do lol........... maybe the kingsand I need the real definition so we can all be on the same page and get some boards. Go Kings!!

pssst...almost hate to tell you this given all of the work you've put in, but espn.com keeps rebound percentage stats in its team stats section. ;)

Interestingly enough when comparing at their particular positions:

Bibby- averages 4.3 rebs- 6th best

Chrisite- averages 3.4 rebs- 27th best

Peja- averages 4.0 rebs- 38th best

CWebb- averages 10.5- 7th best (11th best overall in the league)

Brad Miller- averages 7.9 rebs- 10th best (30th best overall in the league)

Bobby averages 3.1 rebs- 19th best (players ahead of him avg. at least 4 or more mpg than him)

Obviously our glaring weaknesses are at the SG, SF spot. I think that once Christie's foot heals he will be able to contribute more on the boards. I'm hoping that Brad starts rebounding the ball better and averages close to his last season's performance of 10.5 rebs a game. Peja needs to improve the most here and is grabbing 2.5 rebounds less than the previous season. This is very attainable imo and if it happens we are no longer the worst rebounding team in the league.

Obviously, the glaring weakness would be the C spot as he should be the one getting the most rebounds and being the 30th is BAD. Also, if you want to combine 4 and 5 (as Webb and Miller often change people who they're guarding) then you might put the blame on two of them together. Pedja provides NOTHING, so toss him in there as well. Altogether, the whole front line sucks at rebounding.

The whole frontline does suck as a unit, but you have to go through some serious contortions there to somehow deposit part of that blame on Webb's lap. He's the one guy flat out doing his job in there, and without an entirely healthy body to boot.

Mentioned before that the two great mysteries/problems are Peja and Brad -- both guys are down about 2rebs/gm apiece in similar minutes to what they played last year. Same minutes, same players, same athleticism, but just not getting it done.

No idea at all what is up with Peja -- we have talked about him needing to improve his rebounding for years, but he has actually been extremely consistent in his medicrity on the boards over the years -- you could pretty much count on his 5.5-6.0rpg ever since he became a starter. For him to all of a sudden completely disappear like this is very weird. If it were not for his generally strong defensive work so far, I would almost still be questioning his desire to play for this team. But most of the rest of his game appears ok after the terrible start. Rebounding however is still just inexplicably awful 1/5 of the way into the season.

Sounds like a myth to me; in fact, a quick glance at ESPN.com reveals that there are only four teams in the league whose designated starting center leads their team in rebounds (one of whom just put their center on the injured list). In terms of statistics, the one thing that centers typically lead their respective teams in is blocked shots, and that's the one thing that we don't really get from Miller that we really need.

Peja and Brad need to get those 2 reb a game they were getting last year. Doug needs to get 1 or 2 more. Webb is one of the best rebounders in the league. Bibbys beeen rebounding better. Hmm... anyone seen how our bench is rebounding this year compared to last few? I don't actually know, but it would be interesting to see.
