Realistically: Who do you think we go for in FA?

#1
I honestly think we could score big. We are a young up and coming team with a great coach and will have the rookie of the year/once in a decade type of player on our team. What superstar would not want to come into that? Plus, you know Webb will be campaigning for us. If we sign someone big this offseason--next year, I say lookout. I don't think it's that far of a stretch for us to sign Bosh.

I really think we will go out for bosh but if that doesnt happen then id like to think GP will sign a good fitting 2nd tier player and bank the money remaining or go out and sign 2 good fitting players. The potential for this offseason is huge

I know it isnt the 'flashy' move, but I hope we dont sign anyone. Unless we get Wade, Lebron, or Bosh I dont think any of those guys are worth the max, and If im the GM im not signing anyone over 30.

I'd much rather see us look for a trade with our capspace for a younger player. Maybe take a look at Iggy and Dalembert again. Holding on to that cap room until the deadline might be a good idea too, we can steal some real talent from teams looking to dump more salary.

I'd really like to see the Kings make a max offer for either Kenny Thomas or Mikki Moore. We need some veteran leadership to go with our youth.

You are a very sick person. I can give you the phone number of a very good shrink. On second thought, he hasn't helped me much. Forget it..:D

Boozer might be the best bang for our buck and the best fit.
Someone will drop a max contract for Boozer and I sure as hell hope its NOT us!

My #1 target in the FA woud be Bosh. If I was Petrie or one of the Maloofs I would be knocking on Bosh's door at 00:00:01 AM on July 1, with sales pitch that would literally blow his socks off.

if were going to gun for a superstar two things must come true before he signs
1. he does not take the entire capspace we have
2. he must understand this is tyrekes team

now with that out of the way i want to see who petrie will get this offseason. just not boozer man!

I think Petrie goes after someone via trade. He's going to look for a team wanting to dump a big name on the cheap and get them at 50 cents on the dollar.

if were goin after Bosh were gonna have to do everything in our power to make him understand the opposite of this.

Any speculation on which big names (who aren't free agents) might be dumped on the cheap in the offseason? Amare, assuming he opts not to test the FA market? Possibly Al Jefferson? Off the top of my head I can't think of anybody else that fits that description that still has some upside.

If someone maxes out Boozer that would be the dumbest signing of the summer, i have a feeling his value will not be that high. But if we land Amare that would be crazy he might just be worth a max out deal.

You can't begin to make an educated guess until the draft has taken place.

If we end up with Wall/Turner/Johnson then I don't see us making any sort of play for Joe Johnson. (who I think would be a good fit otherwise)

If we end up with Favors I don't think we make a play for Bosh.

If we end up with a high draft pick and land Cousins/Aldrich or fall in the draft and pick up a defensive big man such as Alabi/Udoh/Whiteside/Varnado then I think that we make a play for Bosh.

I have no interest in David Lee/Boozer or any other free agent out there, and I hope that Geoff feels the same way.

If we can't land Bosh or Johnson I'd rather save the capspace to facilitate trades during the season or using the capspace to take on a good player (i.e. Okafor) to help a team with salary relief.

My two dream scenarios (provided we got a top 3 draft pick) would be:

Scenario 1:
1.) Draft Turner
2.) Sign Chris Bosh

Scenario 2:
1.) Draft Cousins
2.) Sign Joe Johnson

If we could somehow pick up another 1st round pick 16-25 range to pick up a defensive specialist Alabi/Udoh/Varnado to go along with Scenario 1, that would be my preferred route.

I think things will become more clear after the draft order has been determined. If we land 2 or 3 then we'd probably pick up either Turner or Cousins though Favors isn't out of the realm of possibility. But if we fall to 7 or later, I think that both Bosh and Johnson would remain on the board as the most likely targets.

One other thing I want to mention is that Perkins will be available as a 2011 FA. If we don't pick up our interior defensive big man in either the draft/2010 FA/2010 Trades, then he's someone I'd love to get. I'd do whatever I could to clear salary (if necessary) to have the capspace available to sign him as our defensive anchor.

I am sorry but I just CANNOT buy this theory that JJ would be a good fit here. He would fail in the same manner that Martin failed but the only difference would be that Johnson would be getting double the money that Martin is getting.

JJ needs the ball to be effective, to create for himself and others. That is exactly the type of player that you do NOT want next to Reke. It just cannot work if you have two guards that are 22+ppg players in the same back court.

I know JJ is a better fit than Martin in terms of being able to handle the ball, pass and rebound but he is a player who uses up a lot of possesion to get his stats and thats not a bad thing, but its a bad thing when your other guard is Evans.

The best fit next to Tyreke is precisely the type of players that we already have on the roster, namely Beno and Cisco. Both can shoot, pass and they don't need the ball in their hands to be effective, and neither is a 20ppg scorer on a regular basis.

Our backcourt does not need thinkering with. Its set. You might want to sign a 3rd PG in case Beno or Reke miss a game or few with injuries but in terms of main rotation guys, we are set.

Now front court is entirely other matter.

I watched Kentucky Vs Tennessee the other day. Obviously Wall is a potential HOF in the makings. Cousins is a beast on the boards but he just lacks something. Conditioning does seem to be of some concern. His lateral quickness and agility is not great. He does appear to have a great wingspan and knows how to crach the boards. Blocked a couple of shots but doesn't appear to be an intimidating presence in the pain defensively.

Despite having an "average" game, he still managed to have a great double-double and was instrumental in brining Kentucky within a whisker of sneaking out an unlikely victory.

If Cousins has an average game its still better than most of the other competitors good games. His only weakness is his lateral movement. Well start naming all the great centers currently playing in the NBA with great lateral movement. Webber had bad lateral movement. Sometimes people tend to overthink some of these things. The sum total is often much better than the parts.

Cousins may never be a great shotblocker, but he'll certainly be decent. But try moving him in the paint. His man defense, at least at the college level is very good. He has very good hands. This conditioning thing is starting to get out of hand. That may have been true at the beginning of the year, but now I think people are just reading the draft boards and parroting what they read. His conditioning has steadily improved as the year has progressed.

By the way that was a fun game to watch. Wall almost pulled it out all by himself. Kentucky's downfall will be its lack of ability to hit the outside shot. As good as Wall is, his outside shot is extremely inconsistant and there's no one else on the team that can consistantly hit that shot. I think they can make it to the final four, but I don't think they can beat Syracuse or Kansas in a matchup. Both those teams can make life difficult for you in the middle and force you to beat them from the outside. But by the same token, they can beat you from the outside.
