It is always fun to whoop on the Sparks. And, we did a fine job of it at that. Everyone scored....yes, I said everyone.

Bekkah had a great game. I think she was 15 and 8. Miao scored 5 pts and had a couple of assists. Nicole had about 12 pts...or was that 14? Erin had one heck of a block that rocked the house.

I could go on an on, but the point is the Monarchs played one whale of a team game. If it had not been for our turnovers (19) we would have really kicked their behinds. Oh, and once again we kept a team under 60 pts. I really like that.

What a great game! Too bad it wasn't televised because I'd love to watch that one again and again. I agree with 7th - too many highlights to pick out. Erin's block was phenomenal, and Brunson looks like she has pogo sticks for legs the way she gets up there. Kudos to Ticha on her 1,500th point. Everyone contributed and it was just a great team victory. BUT...my favorite moment was when Air Monty "ate" the Sparks fan and "threw up" his Sparks uniform. I'm still laughing about that one.

I'll gone all week (I misread the schedule and didn't see tomorrow's home game) so I'll miss Minn. and the two road games, but it looks like the Monarchs are positioned physically and mentally to keep the momentum going.

I'm going to give thumbs up props to the Air Monty bit too, that was great!!

In addition to the players mentioned above, I'm going to call out the defensive performance of Kristin Haynie, she was relentless and her performance was very close to her breakout game in Indiana. If she wasn't nearly taking the ball away from the point guard, she was driving her to flow out of the offense, to throw a pass away or drive her into another defender who was able to get the ball away.

VERY nice when your bench essentially can say to their starters...."take the rest of the night off, we'll finish this up." I was reviewing the box score...the starters just barely averaged 20 minutes last night. Props to O last night too, she did a heckuva job while she was in the game. Everybody played very well for that matter.

Finish out the homestand on a high note and take care of business on the road!!

Wow!

Drat! I was at the Bobby Jackson/Aoshen game during the first half and missed so much of the Monarchs action. But when I got to Arco, my eyes couldn't believe the score! I've never seen the team so energized. It was great to see Miao get that 3 and the encouragement she got from the bench. Erin was relentless as her block shook the Arena! Something about LA makes our team (and our fans) kick it up a notch!

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming that this team is winning!!!! The win last night was a great win, and I hope it instills in the team just how good they really are and to consistently play like they did in the 2nd half. The first half seemed a little slow for them. I really liked what I saw from the bench....MBF yes yes yes on Haynie!!!! She really hustled out there and you could see their PG getting frustrated. Erin - gotta LOVE her energy. She takes a beating underneath, and keeps going and smiling. Maiga is developing her outside shot - yay! I was sooooooo happy to have Miao make that 3. The place really went up. And even though both Miao and Erin had some strange turnovers, I could see what they were trying to do to get the ball to whoever. I think if they both could pass a little harder, they wouldn't get picked off.
The Sparks fan-Air Monty-modifcation was absolutely hysterical.....Haven't seen anything that funny at Arco in a log time..:D (Sorry HoopsFan.....not!!!:) )

Brunson has been doing great. She's coming out of, literally, nowhere for some of those offensive boards. She has one hellacious hop......I hope they protect her, because if they don't we're in trouble when Yo's gone.

I'll go back to dreaming now......don't anyone wake me up......

Oh yeah, anyone else going to the Pre-game event thingie for sections 101-102, and a couple other sections, tomorrow before the game?????

At one point during the second half, we were commenting that the Monarchs' defense was exhausting us! I can't imagine facing that relentless, oppressive defense and trying to play basketball for 40 minutes. And the squad on the court during the conversation consisted of bench players and Becky. Coach Whiz has them completely in sync on defense. Way to go!

Did anyone else catch the freakin' HILARIOUS moment on the Monarchs' bench when DeMya was pampering Yolanda? My whole section was laughing.

DeMya was standing in front of the fully relaxed Yo (head tilted back, arms spread out) waving a towel in front of her like a big fan. She's just cooling Yo off with this great look on her face like she's pampering the Queen! Then when she was done fanning Yo she took the towel and started dabbing at Yo's face with it, drying her off. Then she twists the towel and wraps it around Yo's neck all perfect and such....and moves on to Nicole Powell!! :D

It was so funny. I'm glad the team gets to enjoy moments like that! The starters rewarded by DeMya for a job well done!
