I will say, in response, however, that none of those people appear to be advocating for McCallum to start over Thomas on the basis of McCallum being better than Thomas.

My Ray McCallum=Eric Snow comp isn't looking to hot though.
If IT is/was so great why did that version of the Kings not win more games? Should he not be able to win all on his own?
IT is doing the scoring in Boston no doubt but the other Celtics are playing the Defense that wins the games IMO. Coach Stevens is a brilliant young Coach who has good schemes and motivates his guys to play the best.
Most here wanted IT as the Associations premier Sixth Man. I still think that is where IT would be his best. IMO IT though thinks he is the next AI.

He's the best player and #1 option on a 38 win team that's 3rd in the conference. Sparked them into the playoffs last year. That's proof enough. Yeah, the Celtics are a "sum of many parts" but they don't have anyone on that roster who can come duplicate his scoring and playmaking. As what was said many times in the other Ray Mac thread, 21-7 with great efficiency doesn't grow on trees.
Just too hard I guess for people to give him the credit he deserves.
Eh, I stand by everything I've said about Thomas; he's an efficient scorer, but I've always been of the opinion that efficiency from scorers is overrated, and the current trends haven't changed my mind on that.
Thomas is the Number One scoring option on a playoff team, there's no disputing that, but I utterly challenge the claim that he's their best player. I also agree with @King Baller's Iverson comparison. Offensively, the 2015-16 Celtics don't look entirely dissimilar from the 2000-01 76ers. I don't remotely agree that the Celtics lack anyone else who can duplicate Thomas' scoring or playmaking; I think that Thomas benefits from being on a team where the other twelve guys are content to let Thomas do what he does.

Just because one does not agree with you does not translate to "Just too hard I guess for people to give him the credit he deserves." IT is a good scorer and an All Star.
Where I disagree with you is who is the best player on the Celtics. The C's best player is Avery Bradley. If you do not agree think about each players trade value. I suspect it would be mighty hard to pry Bradley from Ainge
Whereas IT can be had for a larger scoring type if a team wanted the little AI wannabe. (I consider AI a great NBA player of the past so I do not consider this any sort of insult)See this is the whole IT issue. He NEEDS to be the best player on the Celtics. He gets his own. I will say he has improved on his play making. And because of Stevens and the other Celtics they make it work in Boston. Good for them

the celtics are eternally in pursuit of the kind of marquee #1 type of talent that can push them over the top in the eastern conference, and if they ever manage to find one, it will be interesting to see how thomas adjusts to being dislodged from his current alpha dog status...

the Celtics really aren't that far off from contending again, they just need that #1 player, as you stated. They have a whole bunch of nice complimentary pieces. Danny Ainge is a beast of a GM, he practically rebuilt this team in two seasons.
