Question from a Rocket's Fan regarding Adelman's offense

Hi Rocket's fan here. I didn't watch much King's basketball when Adelman was the coach there and wanted to know what you guys think the Rocket's offense will look like now with Adelman at the helm. How do you think Adelman will work in the talents of TMac, Yao, Francis, James, Scola, Bonzi, etc? How do you think he is going to play Yao, who was a pretty gifted passer during his rookie year but has turned mostly into a low post scorer under Van Gundy? Thanks.

Yao probably will be at the high post, he is tall enough for good court vision and he has a sweet jumper for a center, T-mac will probably bring the ball up ala-doug christie and Bonzi post-up.

Only thing I see that bothers me is that Juwan howard from what Ive seen of him last year is washed up, gets pushed around and can't hit open jumpers, the points will most likely be off ball jump sthoors.

Howard, I think has already been traded for Mike James to Minny.

Fewer iso sets, more movement, with and without the ball. Probably bring Yao out into the high post at times, low block at others. He will have many more chances to pass and make decisions. Scola may be able to do that too, but will have to see. Chuck Hayes is NOT an Adelman player though, so he might end up riding pine. Bonzi will play for Rick, expect to see some small ball with Bonzi/Battier/TMac all on the floor together. Especially when combined with Francis, who is a good rebounding PG. You guys are thinking title run, so the kids will be squeezed for minutes in all liklihood.

Its a hybrid of the Princeton offense that Pete Carril ran. Not quite the same as Princeton but certainly you will see movement away from the ball and guys cutting looking for easy baskets. He also used lots of high pick and rolls that involved Bibby and Webber. I guess its a matter of if Ming can pass as well as Webber, Vlade and B Miller and if the other players will move without the ball.

I have no idea what Adelman will run. I doubt it will be like the Kings used to play. I would predict that he'll figure the Triangle, which I guess is like the Kings in a way, would be the way to go.

One of Adelman's greatest strengths is that he knows what works best with the players he has. I'm sure that we will recognize many of his plays, but he will tailor it to your team's talents. He will not sit you "stars" much, but some of yor less prominent players can get in his doghouse. They tend to stay there for a long time. All in all, my opinion is that you have a great coach.
