Proposal: Kings / Celtics

Ray Allen
Kendrick Perkins

To Bos:
Kevin Martin
Andres Nocioni
Beno Udrih
Jon Brockman
Kings 2011 2nd

Why we do it?
Because we get out of Nocioni and Udrih's contracts. Even though Beno has been pretty good this year, we could use the space.
Gaining a late 1st is decent value, and Petrie seems to be pretty good at finding decent guys in that spot.
If we can re-sign Ray Allen to a contract that makes sense, who knows, he may want to stay? (low chance), but would be nice to have a veteran leader that actually has a nice resume.


Why they do it?
Because they get Martin, who would be a perfect fit on that starting line up:

Rondo
Martin
Pierce
Garnett
Wallace

He doesn't have to worry about defense too much, since 4 guys can cover up for him, and he will be open all the time since teams can't double him with that line-up.

Boston has also been reported to be interested in Nocioni which makes a lot of sense, since he is someone who would be more valuable to a contender. Beno is just luxury as a backup 1-2 and adds great depth.
In order to do this, they take on his contract, but it will be worth it as they will be contenders in the near future.

I don't think Boston would trade Kendrick Perkins straights up(if the money worked), let alone with a huge expiring, a 1st pick, and two bad contracts.

I keep hearing the rumors about a Ray Allen swap, it sounds both GOOD and BAD at the same time. On one hand Ray Allen is a aging vet who would probably not resign. On the other hand he is exactly what the team needs a guy to take that shot at the end when reke drives in to kick it out. I've been watching Ray Allen for years and there is not one other guy I want taking that last shot.

If that trade was to go down and it was Allen/Pieces for Kmart/Nocioni what pieces would you guys want? Mind you I can guarantee Perkins isn't involved. I would definitely be interested in taking another look at Shelden Williams before Big Baby came back into the fold he was giving that team GREAT production. I don't know his exact numbers but I was paying close attention to him during games as I really never understood why we never tried him out this season instead of a guy like may.

From the point of view of a rebuilding team like the Kings, the only pieces the Celtics have are Perkins and Rondo - and they aren't giving them up. The rest are vets who need to win now and roster filler. Nor can you count on them having having a first round pick better than 20 in the next few years. There's just absolutely nothing enticing there at all. They have what it takes to make a Nocioni salary dump, but not a Kevin Martin trade (where you HAVE to get value back, IMO).

Yeah very true when looking at it like that I just really hope that this is all rumor even as the thought of getting back a Tony Allen or a Big Baby really isn't a nice scenario.
