Potential of Nene...

I dunno... I guess what he's always been, a kinda injury prone dissapointment, who never really plays as good as people say he can?

I'd be really surprised if we traded for damaged goods. Even when Nene is healthy, he only gives you 11 points and 6 boards. He is only 23 though.

In His Prime, what type of player do you think he could be?

I think he's pretty much a lock as a 15 and 8 type of player.

The real question that has people buzzing is can he become 20-10? Not sure on that one. He had taken a step forward before the injury -- was rebounding much better, blocking more shots, and showing some nifty ball skills to go with the post game. I was NOT a Nene fan off his first few years -- like our own PF this year I felt it was much hype while everybody ignored his crap rebounding and shotblocking. But last year I thought he took a step forward and added soem meat and potatoes to go with his talent, and now he's very intriguing.

You project his numbers last year out to 36min (starters min) and you get 15pts 9rebs 2.3ast 1.4stl 1.4blks on 50% shooting. And he's still young, and big obviously. Just a question of whether he keeps growing or tops out. Either way, there certainly aren't 60, or even 50, big men in the league better than him, and he's somebody's starter.

He is an interesting talent. And while I think he will be more consistent than a guy like Stromile Swift, just as with Stromile, he is mostly made up of hype/potential. 15/8 guy sounds about right. Which is good if he can start handling the C position a little better.

I did like how he fought hard in the playoffs last year. He played his butt off and showed some toughness.

I agree that he has the potential to average "Brand like" career numbers(minus this year because Brand performance this year is crazy). I wanted Nene since last year. I would love to see him on our team.

I agree with Bricklayer's assessment. Nene has improved each year, which is a tremendous sign. I don't think he recieved much coaching prior to be drafting either. Working with Carril and Adelman (I hope it's them) would only increase his learning rate. Also, Sacramento could really use a nice Brazilian, rodizio style restaurant, such as would be prompted by the arrival of Nene.

Nene really hasnt done anything yet, hes got the body of Karl Malone but he needs to work on his offensive moves. Potential is all hes got. Id hate to see Nene go...but as a business organization they gotta do what they gotta do...
