Has to be more to this, doesn’t make sense to get that talent for 2 second rounders
Wow, what a get for WAS. Perry better land Kuminga, or he's got some explaining to do
I mean they can just retain him too. It'll f their cap, but they can do it.
Kuminga is a very good swing for the Kings. If it costs you a good prospect at our position of strength... eh that's probably fine
Hmmm... I'm not so sure about that. He's played for 4 seasons and has basically shown himself for what he is at this point which is a pretty versatile scorer. The question is how much the productivity ticks up with more minutes. His value is all production based at this point. Can he get to that 25 ppg type of player or not? Depending on what a team pays and has to give up in trade determines whether this pushes a franchise forward or down the hole. Remember, the Warriors are in the drivers seat folks, they just are, and they've shown they'll hang onto young talent beyond it's expiring date when they should trade it like with Wiseman and maybe Moody. They also have time on their side. They are the ones that can drag this out and if they do the suitors could very well eventually disappear and wait until the deadline or next summer.
Some are saying Houston did him a solid sending him home to his preferred destination. I have no idea but I feel like we should pull Carter from our offer and let Dubs know they are running out of options.Has to be more to this, doesn’t make sense to get that talent for 2 second rounders
Yep, disappointed about this. I had pivoted to making a move with Houston.Welp, Whitmore for 2 seconds apparently was available. Seems like an incredible option
The only catch is that the Kings had to be the team Cam grew up rooting for.Welp, Whitmore for 2 seconds apparently was available. Seems like an incredible option
Feels like there’s a bit of gamesmanship going on from Scott right now.
I’d rather give up Ellis then Carter I think Carter has more potential with his ball skills
I think he can be a 20 ppg guy with good efficiency and decent defense
Acceptance stage already
Dubs nation in ruins
I don’t think the Kings have any intention of firesaling assets to rebuild but they absolutely can run it back and hope that a competent vet PG can help showcase some of our movable pieces this season to get deals made while the team secures a top 8 pick. It’s weird that the biggest kings doomers in other places don’t see this is happening or look at how Perry operated with the Knicks.
The old five stages of grief model. I’m sort of in the dumbfounded yet over it stage.Acceptance stage already
Going off the rumored proposal (Saric, Carter, & 2nds), we wouldn’t be paying him anything close to $30 mil plus per year.It might be, but if Kuminga isn't what the Kings think he is and they pay him 30 million plus a season right off the get while giving up the one lone lottery pick under 25 years of age next season then it might hurt more than people think. That said, they'll want the farm and if I were them I'd do the same exact thing. Unless something goes down where the Warriors want to just get it over with a Kuminga suitor is paying in some way.
yeah, it’s not ideal. I’ll have to take a gap year from basketball. I still enjoy Monk, but realise he’s not winning games for this team. Demar and Lavine both good guys but will be very disappointed if both start the season.Running it back was and isn’t the smartest thing pure nonsense stunting Keegan’s growth with demar/lavine taking most of the shots. Carter and Ellis will get like 10mpg each behind vets that won’t be here in two years all to get the 10th seed and watch curry drop 40 on us in the playoffs-in

If that is the package we offer, the max Kuminga can make in his first year is $18.6 mil (to make the trade legal). Assuming it’s a 4 year contract with 8% raises, that would make his total contract value be $83.81 mil (which is ~$20.95 mil per year).
Again, going off the rumors, it sounds like we’re talking about a $20 mil/year contract. Nothing close to a $30+ mil/year contract.
Neither guy is coming off the bench and we’re gunna be in the 10-12th seed all season which means Vivek won’t let us tank the second half with the play-in is in sight. Wasting development years and not gaining a premium pick and a draft being called generational
But again, that’s not what the rumors are. The rumored deal is Saric + Carter. The math works out to Kuminga’s deal being a max of $83.81 mil if that’s the case. The rumors are that's what he wants. The other rumor was he already turned down a 5 for 150 deal from the Warriors. If he were willing to get just a little above the MLE the Warriors probably would have re-signed him already.
The whole league lives in a different world now. You can see how many teams have wrapped up most of their salary cap in two or three top players and are scrounging around just to put together a competitive roster. That includes the Kings. But again, that’s not what the rumors are. The rumored deal is Saric + Carter. The math works out to Kuminga’s deal being a max of $83.81 mil if that’s the case.
What Kuminga wants is only a part of this. What he’s being offered is just as important. Sure it was rumored he turned down a 5 for 150 deal. If that’s is actually true, he gambled on himself and made a poor choice in the end (similar to Schroder turning down the Lakers big offer).
And I’m not convinced the Warriors are jumping at the chance to sign Kuminga to an $83 mil contract. They made him that rumored offer before they had Butler. They now have a lot of money tied up in their key guys. The calculus has changed. They live in a different world than they did when the originally made that offer to Kuminga.
