Could Stauskas make IT a better starter?

I don't know enough to have a useful, informed opinion on a PG we should sign. I will be happy when the IT issue is resolved. Step 1- does he sign on not, Step 2 - if he signs will he be our starter. Once those are answered, if they are, I 'll be a lot happier and the front office will be also. At what position will next best new player be signed to play? Stay tuned to tomorrow's show where more may be revealed.

weird question, imo. all stauskas could do for IT is give him more room to drive. that's all i can think of, anyway. maybe stauskas is a better defensive talker than ben is, and that helps. i dunno, but that feels like scraping at the bottom of the barrel to me.

Just by being another ball handler on the court would help out IT a lot. Now Stauskas is by no means a PG but he has very good handles and that does help.

Let face it, this past season, IT had arguably the worst collection of SGs when it comes to ball handling in the NBA (McLemore and Thornton). Having some who can lessen the load from time to time would be helpful. Not sure that it makes IT a better PG but it might improve his assists slightly as the hope is that Stauskas will not brick as many shots at McLemore and Thornton did!

Might not be an upgrade starting wise, but the Magic have waived Jameer Nelson. He could be an option if the team wanted to have an experienced back up to IT, or if the team wants to sign-and-trade IT if the price gets too high.

Ok Rumors have the raptors working on locking up Lowry as best FA PG in the 12 Mil yr range?

No 2 FA will be Bledsoe

IT is shown at No 3 ?

Rhondo rumored to ask for 5 yr 100 mil Extension, (Cant even get it until next year?)

Is there really an upgrade from IT that wont break the bank?

I still think we need to sign and trade IT to a team in need without cap space for a defensive big
to a team that has excess / unwanted bigs

Then we need to trade JT / Landry etc to a team with to many PGs

So many people on this forum have been preaching this point. It's not so much about finding an upgrade for Thomas (Although that would be nice). It's about finding a better fitting starting PG. Don't overlook team balance.

I'm in favor of bringing in an upgrade over Thomas (someone like Rondo or Lowry) and letting Thomas go through a trade since that upgrade will require most of the minutes at PG anyways, or I'm in favor of bringing in a better fitting starting PG (that might not be as valuable as Thomas) and having Thomas come off the bench as an elite sixth man.

id get Jameer as the vet leader we need and bring IT off the bench.

We should be able to get Jameer for around 5/6 mill which is perfect. 12pts ,6/7 assists a game

Crap defender. If we are going with a player that can't defend, I'd rather just keep IT.

jameer is a great vet and knows how to run an offense geared towards an elite big man. He's a great locker room guy and floor general

Could we do a sign and trade for Jose Cauldron and IT? While he's not much a of a defender the passing ability and shooting is near elite level.

I almost hate to do this given the inevitable discord, however, if the Rondo thing falls through, our reported M.O. has been big PG who can play some defense right? And we just picked up a SG who can handle and share backcourt duties right? And who might need some defensive coverage help?

Sources say the New Orleans Pelicans are making most of their roster available in trade talks, including Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, etc.

and that one's for real. I just don't know what those restless fools in the Big Easy are still wandering around looking for, besides escaping that Gordon deal.

Do you think this FRont office would admit mistake and seek a tyreke trade?

If only we could retain Tyreke....sigh. Besides living in the past, how about we keep trying to nab a PG from lottery teams and see if they bite.

Oh man, that would be great.

Would you do:

Ben, Derrick, Terry, Outlaw, and Landry for Gordon and Evans? works per realgm. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6471069

Would NO do it???
From a talent standpoint NO loses big. But from cap perspective, NO gets nice enders in Terry and Outlaw. We take on huge salary. (I don't normally post trade ideas...hopefully this is not ridiculous).

The PELS could really use Derrick Williams. They have a big hole in the SF spot.
Either Evans or Holiday would be really nice.
Then we sign up Vasquez as back-up point for cheap. :p

Tyreke Evans and Stauskas would be an awesome backcourt. Evans provides defense and slashing and Stauskas takes care of outside shooting and some ball handling.

Or.

Eric Gordon and Stauskas. Both can shoot and handle the ball well. Although Gordon can defend when he wants to, let us just hope Stauskas turns out to be an okay defender.

Either one is okay as long as we get to address that big loophole in defense, lack of ball movement, and freezing of other players created by the presence of Allen Iverson wanna-be.

At this point Aminu has shown more as a starting SF than Derrick has at least Aminu gives consistant reboudning/defensive effort.

I must be watching a different version of NBA because last time I check Williams > Aminu given enough playing time.
Aminu got that spot with very less competition. Williams has to play behind established vet like Love and AK47 in Twolves and Gay in Kings.

Would love tyreke back. Don't see the FO going in that direction sadly.

The noises about Vasquez are scary though.

I would brink back Tyreke in a heartbeat! It was a massive mistake letting him go in the first place! Our front office would never admit to making a mistake. If they do this it means that thry are admitting to two mistakes, one letting Tyreke go and believing he is not a PG and two this deal also admints that Tyreke's replacement (McLemore) is a massive failure!
