Well that is actually funny.
Are you a Sac local? If you are I feel sorry for you because it must suck having to support a team when you can't stand the direction it's taking/ its best players.
Well that is actually funny.
The Knicks suddenly have more people contributing because they got a real PG. Funny how that works.
I wondered how long it would take for this thread to rise. No reasonable person can expect this team to win with our "big three" (who aren't that big of a big three yet, but that's a discussion for another thread) reliably contributing 60 points a game without any help from the bench.
Seriously. There needs to be more bench support. Smart can't afford to keep any of them on the bench for a reasonable amount of time without having things go down the crapper, so what you get are tired legs and mental mistakes over the long haul.
My thoughts:
1. Salmons needs to be benched - Donte needs to start.
I don't know how this can't be any more clear to Smart. Donte brings defense, and hustle. I'm OK with the points not being there if he's making things easier for his teammates on the opposite end of the floor and taking his shots within the motions of the offense. It's not his style to just dribble-dribble-dribble-shoot anyway, so that's all good.
2. Better veteran presence - bring in better vets.
Garcia and Hayes are good examples of what vets can do. They calm things down. They give an extra set of directions at practices. Unfortunately, our vets should both be in a Mateen role at the end of the bench, but this is what we have to deal with. AK47 would have been great, because the pressure to contribute goes to a player that knows how to do that effectively within his abilities. We have players that don't quite yet know how to do that, which brings me to...
4. Kids.
We're still the youngest team in the league. How is that possible? What you're seeing is what growth looks like. Maybe you didn't pay attention to the Thunder the past few years, and I can understand. It was pretty ugly for a while, but with a good coach and well defined roles, things are looking way, way up for them. We're behind the learning curve, and I'm placing that all on Westphal. He could have given more structure, he could have defined roles, but he didn't. He let them "learn on their own." You can't do that in the NBA with a roster full of one-and-dones. This isn't Syracuse - you can't just accumulate talent and roll over most of the competition.
That's all for now. I have other ideas that don't really fit here.

I was local, but I've moved to various parts of the bay area since. Fans voicing displeasure with team decisions is pretty common in sports.
Hmm ... I think voicing displeasure that the Lakers refused to trade Bynum for Kidd is common. I don't think voicing displeasure that the Lakers insist on keeping Kobe and running the triangle offense in the past was that common. If you get what I'm saying ...
There's lots of displeasure being voiced around here. But forever being unhappy with having Tyreke at the helm is as good as you being unhappy that we're called the Kings and not the Monitor Lizards. Some things just aren't going to change - might as well just get with it and see what can be changed (such as acquiring Salmons. Now that sucked.) given you have to accept the unchangeable.
I'm not saying you're wrong, this is just my point of view. Like I said, I feel bad for you because it must suck supporting a team when there's really nothing about it that you are happy with.
I'll just ignore your misguided comparison.
As for being unhappy, I am pleased with Cousins. I was doubtful of him coming in due to his question marks, but have come to realize he's one of the most talented young big men in the game and he gets a lot of crap for showing emotions in a post-artest-brawl NBA that is overly worried about scaring dumb, old white men.
But being a fan means sticking with the team even when they're hopeless and infuriating. If you've been through the disaster of the 1990 draft then you can survive most anything.

Jerry Reynolds would always say of Causewell, "you can't teach height!"
And I always thought to myself, you're right Jerry, you can't teach him anything.

I agree with each of the points I've bolded above.
I do, however, disagree with one thing...
