Who here actually plays basketball on a daily basis? I play whenever I have the chance, but I wish I hadent gone last night to play. I went up for a layup and landed on the toe part of my foot and severely sprained my ankle. Now I'm stuck in a cast for 3 days.

Ouch. I sprained my ankle pretty bad at the Mike Bibby camp back in 2000, but since it was our last championship game and I was known as one of the people who gets up when they're down, I played through it but later found out I had a minor fracture. :( Ah well. That's what competition is all about. ;)

btw: I don't mean to brag, :p but we won partially because of that block I did when I sprained my ankle. ;)

I hope your leg heals fast, mine took more than 5 weeks to heal.

I play everyday.. im addicted to basketball, it's what i love to do.. i start College August 15th and im hoping to tryout for their basketball team

I'm a lousy player and don't play much, but I love to shoot free throws.
Here's my state: FT 49%, RPG 2, PPG 6, pretty good for me :D.

I love playing basketball! I play more of a Peja-like game but with more passing because I'm a guard and rebounding because I've got decent hops. I'm way too small to be an effective slasher tho, think Kevin Martin but shrunk down to 5'11" and you'll get an idea of how I'm like, I'm probably even smaller so shooting 3s are my bread and butter. Like Freak I don't want to brag but people started calling me Peja in high school and I once shot 8 for 10 from the arc at a game. :p

Oh and by the way ONEZERO, hope your ankle heals fast, I had a fractured wrist once, took it roughly half a year to heal, I hope your injury isn't as bad. ;)

awww....that sucks....I play basketball too....I played in High school and I'm going to ODU where I'm gonna try out 4 the team ( thats where Ticha played) but anyway I love playing bball...hope u feel better :)

I love basketball, but unfortunatly I'm not exactly what you would call skilled...There are some positive to my game, though.

*I'm quick.
*I can jump higher than you would expect out of this 5'7 white guy.
*I'm pretty decent from 10-15 feet.
*If a get a favorable matchup (Rarley) I can post up.
*I'm a good passer...Nothing fancy, but I can zip a ball through a crowd.

BUT, there are negatives, that offset my positives.

*I am EXTREMELY streaky. It can be a good thing, but when I get bad, I miss everything.
*I'm probably the softest, lazyest defender in the history of the game.
*Lousy rebounder.
*Slow reactions to loose balls.
*My ballhandling leaves some to be desired...My only means of trying to get by someone is running full speed, and hoping to blow by them.
*My range is 15 feet. Anything beyond that is an adventure.

In conclusion, I'll say I'm a semi-decent baller.

Who here lives in California during the school year? We should organize some sort of kingsfans.com basketball thing.

Life starts when the basketball season begins.;) I am on a team right now and I just love it. My best? Defense:o ..Let's just say I'm a fair shooter . that, Basketball is easy to understand and great for anyone to play. I don't blame all of you for loving this game.:D

I haven't played basketball in 3 years (used to play a a few times a week troughout HS).

The last time I played someone compared my game Vlade Divac and so I never picked up the ball again.

I don't play everyday but I play at least 3 times a week. I'm just basically shooting around or playin some shooting games(horse, around the world, etc). I'm working on getting into shape (something I'm not) and then I can play more and actually get into a real game and not be exhausted. I'm exhausted after a layup. I know, thats pitiful. That's why I'm gonna work myself this summer. I love playing bball

Where in cali do u live? I live in los angeles which is obvious from my profile. But anyways, that does sound kinda cool if we had a bunch of us that lived pretty close by.

Man, I've been stuck at home the whole day cause I can't walk or anything. Thanks to all u guys who hoped I'd get better.

Maybe with me being hurt, I could still ball u guys up. Just kidding. I could tell u how my game is though. I never played on any organized teams except for when I was like 7 and I played for the ymca. I'm only 5 7 but I'm pretty quick and I got decent handles. I think I've watched bibby so much that I've developed a bibby type shot. Like I'll go left usually and make a quick stop and lose my defender and jump up for a shot almost like bibby. The only problem is I got no hops at all. If it wasn't for me being pretty fast and quick, I wouldn't be able to do anything.

As of now I'm living in Hong Kong, but I'm moving to San Francisco within a couple of months. Since both my brother and I are going to the University of San Francisco my parents decided to move to San Francisco with us.

I don't know, SLAB. Sounds like you might fit right in. You thought about showing up at try-outs?

;)

Being tall (between 5' 10.5" and 5' 11.5" depending on how recently I've been to the chiropracter) and a lifelong fan of the NBA, everyone always thinks I play.

Man, are they ever wrong.

Hey, there's no shame in being soft, we don't get paid enough to dive for loose balls. ;)

Here's my scouting report:
At 6'0" and 135 lbs. I am sort of a small forward (at least with the other short unskilled guys I usually play with).

Offense:
Look first for the mismatch or open shooter and get the assist.
Half hook coming across the lane or posting up within 10 ft.
Streaky set shots out to 3-pt range.
Jumpshot only effective within 15 ft.

Defense:
Aggressive perimeter defender who never lets a shot go uncontested.
Effective post defender, establishes position and doesn't go for fakes.
6'5" wingspan, good weakside shotblocker.
Poor defensive rebounder, gets pushed around too easily.

I used to play with guys at the gym at least once a week, but lately I'm just working and growing flabbier by the day. If anyone wants to get a game in the Sacramento area I'm definitely in. I was at the last Kingsfans-Kingstalk game and that was a whole lot of fun.

I am an alum of the University of San Francisco...great school.

Edit: Back on topic...

I played a lot of ball in my younger days, but unfortunately that is a thing of the distant past.

You've a better chance of seeing Mj in Kings uniform than me on the bball court:D. My idea of exercise is changing the channel on espn lol:(
but its probably a good thing, very out of shape. I'd make Tag look like an elite athlete:eek:

I'm the same height and lighter than you are but still managed to make my high school squad. :p Don't think I could cut it in college though, so I never bothered to try.

Hey alacron, you're pretty skinny, huh? Cause I'm 5 7 and 155lbs and I'm skinny, so if you're 6 foot and 136lbs, then you've got to be pretty skinny, right?

I prefer to think of myself as "wiry." ;)

I play on occasion these days, but I was an absolute hoops junkie as a kid and through high school/college.

My junior year was Yogi Stewart's senior year, and it was nice to see a guy I played with (and went to college with) make it to the NBA.

Ha! I thought about that when I was writing it. I was all, wow, from my personal scouting report, I could fit right in with the Kings!

Alacron must be a stick! I'm 5'7/130 and I'm freakin' tiny!

He could just be less dense in his mass per sq inch :P that or all the weight went to his 6'5 wingspan.
