Pistons vs Heat - Game 1

Heat doing very well in the first half of this game, currently leading by 5. Seems that all the extra rest is helping, at least in this first half.

Also, both Wade and Shaq have 3 fouls, and are resting for the remainder of the first half, but Payton has picked up the slack at this point.

End of the 3rd quarter, Heat with a 5 point lead. Shaq had a terrible quarter, missing at least four layups, and Wade sat out the last 7 minutes after picking up his 4th foul. Billups took advantage of JWill for a stretch, but the Heat bench regained the lead over the final four minutes of the 3rd quarter.

Should be an interesting 4th quarter.

Miami 1-0. Miami wins convincingly IN Miami. Good start for them. Just imagine if Wade would have played majority of the game not in foul trouble. Pistons would have been out of it in the early 2nd half.

Heat take homecourt advantage right off the bat with a 91-86 win over the Pistons. Wade has 25 and Shaq had 14 (most of which came in the first half), but more importantly, Walker had 17, Payton had 14, and JWill chipped in 10 points (on 5-7 shooting). If the Heat can get that type of production from the supporting cast regularly, they may very well get revenge on the Pistons.

Well, looks like the opposite of in my prediction tonight. Heat have had more energy and taken it right to Detroit for most the game. The rest benefitting the Heat, but you expected Pistons to be pumped and energized as well, guess not so much.

Heat win the first game, game 2 is thursday

Good. I love Wade. I think this series will be Heat in 6/7 or Pistons in 7. I think the Pistons will be playing from behind in this series.

You know, this did not really surprise me. I all of a sudden have a lot of questions about the Pistons after that Cavs series, and last year Miami probably would have beat them if Wade had not gone down. Before the playoffs began I, like everybody, was anticipating the Pistons would win the title, but now...just not so sure. Nor should the man on the Heat sidelines be underestimated.

Detroit just looked tired.

I'm sure the seven games against the Cavs was part of that, but they looked pretty tired in that series, too.

agreed detroit has not looked impressive since the beginning of the second round. i am happy wade had a great game with 25/5 in just over 26 minutes. he struggled a bit earlier in the playoffs but played great tonight. what a player

Pistons looked impressive in G7, they had little rest and time to prepare for the Heat. Just expected some more energy from them.

Miami's win didn't look all that "convincing" to me... it looked more like they had a week off, and the other guys didn't.

If the Heat win Game 2, maybe I'll be "convinced." But I'll give Detroit a mulligan for Game 1.

i still think the pistons win the series. they can win in miami, that won't be a problem

hell i think they will win the title

For half of Game 7 -- at halftime they were in trouble again.

Think they summoned a pride response to pull out that series but been a long time since they looked anything approaching intimidating.

If I had to bet I'd still go with the Pistons, but the Heat are playing better and just took away HCA with their best player saddled with major foul trouble. Pistons are feeling like the Spurs did there wobbling and stumbling and weaving.

Foul trouble or not, Wade shot 9-for-11... I wouldn't wager anything that I'd miss on him being able to do that again.

Perhaps, but Wade was pretty much kicking Detroit's behind in the playoffs LAST year, and that it was really his injury in that ECF series that may have opened the door for the Pistons to pull it off. For whatever reason, just not sure they have an answer to him.
