Phoenix vs. SA - Conf. Finals

Suns with one point lead at halftime. Amare and Duncan both having huge games to this point, Nash having a solid game as well. Can the Suns extend their season past the next 24 minutes?

Parker with the last 8 points (including 2-2 on threes) to give the Spurs a 9 point lead. Spurs are 7-13 from distance in this game. Suns are 1 for 7 (at home, mind you). QRich and Marion still playing poorly on offense. Outside of the third quarter of game 4, Marion hasn't shown up at all for a player of his abilities. Either he or QRich will need to get it going for the remainder of this game if the Suns don't want to go fishing.

Suns just barely shooting above 40% for this game (41% to be exact according to yahoo gamechannel). Nash needs to work to get the other guys involved as much as possible.

Amare has 39, and is averaging 36ppg for the SERIES.

Now for the fun news Kings fans -- the kid is 22 years old and in our division. We're going to have to deal with him for the next decade.

4 point game... 26 seconds to go. Spurs leading.

Amare is crazy. Cant wait to see how he dominates next year after he gets a little stronger and developes that aggressive "im going to destroy you" attitude a bit more.

I have said all season long that Amare Stoudemire is only as good as Nash allows him to look and, in my opinion, nothing that I've seen in these playoffs has changed my mind. And I don't think that Phoenix will be able to keep this team together by the time Stoudemire has established himself as a true Superpower. Right now, he's still in "good, not great" territory.

Well... we may find a gem in the draft and have a super star that they have to deal with but the way I see it is Amare has to deal with US for the next decade!

Amare without Nash is a good player. He'd probably average 22 ppg or so (considering that he averaged 20 per game last year, albeit on a terrible Suns' team). With Nash, though, he's a monster. And, had any Sun other than Amare shown up for work for the 4th quarter of game 5, the Suns might have lived to fight another day.

Have to give the Spurs credit, though. They realized that they could live with Amare and Nash going off, but couldn't live with Q and Marion having big games, and when those shrinking violets had pressure applied to their games, they wilted, and quickly. Q with a big zero in game 5. JJohnson had a terrible shooting night, and Nash went cold basically from the 3rd quarter on (bad timing since no one else on the team was hitting with any consistency).

With the Spurs in the finals, I'm cheering for the Eastern Conference. If Shaq doesn't start looking better fast, I'd much rather see the Pistons face the Spurs.

Uh...sure. ;)

Might want to take a look at the standings this season and the incredible youth of that squad. They're going to be around for a long time, and have 3-4 years here to find a Nash replacement.

Meanwhile, we're rebuilding. Doubt they are losing much sleep over us until/unless we magically come up with our own Amare.

Is just me or does something seem completely wrong with players like Amare and Nash putting up such huge numbers yet their team was never really in this series?

Once again defense wins championships I guess.

Well, you never know what you get from the draft until you put it on the floor, and I don't recall anyone thinking of Stoudemire as a "sure thing" when he was drafted with the 9th pick... Reminds me of something somebody said on Clutchcity last week; they said that they were rooting for the Spurs simply because of Stoudemire, in the sense that the better Stoudemire looks, the worse the Rockets look in taking Yao with the #1 pick.

Amare was simply a BEAST. You don't score 40 because someone sets you up. Some cases Amare would just get the ball and BUST his man up, and rise over him. Thats not Nash's doing. Nash helped him realize his full potential, but ultimately Amare will be the clear cut MVP of this team in the future.

we need greg popovich!! i love the way he coaches and how he gets on his players when they're not doing what they've been told. i've never seen adelman yell at anyone but a referee. pop is the GM as well. petrie is good but he didn't draft tony parker or manu ginobili. this is the 3rd time the spurs have reached the finals in the last seven years with two rings in the bag already. greg popovich is getting things done and he deserves all the credit in the world.

Well this proves yet again that Defense is the only real thing that matters. The Suns were basically us 3 years ago. Although better IMO. However I think the Spurs are not as good as the '02 Lakers.

No D No Title... It's time the Kings org realizes this. If you cannot get stops in the 4th you are done.

Lets not forget they have one of the best F's in the league if not ever. Give Petrie Duncan/Garnett/Kobe/Shaq to work around and I am sure he could slap together a championship team.

I would rather have Bibby over Parker and Manu wasnt Manu when he was drafted. They got lucky... I doubt they expected to get what hes giving them when they drafted him.

...and once again it is proven.. high powered offense cannot beat the best defense in the playoffs. And it will never happen. Hopefully someone is taking notes.
